The Bulldogs clinched the 4A State Football Title in an epic winter wonderland!
Around Campus 3rd grade presents A Christmas Line.
Mrs. Brown’s 6th graders practiced their prepositional phrases by making paper airplanes. They wrote phrases like “under the table,” “over the fence,” and “in the room” to describe where the planes might land!
K4 presents Give Thanks.
Every 5th and 6th grader has the opportunity to spread their wings and participate in an arts rotation through our Middle School exploratory program! The program includes classes in theater, chorus, band and visual art.

HOMECOMING WEEK 2017
Seniors say “Jump for Service Day!”
The 4th grade kicked off the year with their performance of “Jukebox Time Machine.”

Homecoming 2017 was a fun-filled week packed with events...a day of servant leadership across Mobile County, a bonfire, sock hop, carnival, theme day, future bulldog pep rally, homecoming queen, Mr. Hero, parade, alumni tailgate, and much more! A special “thanks” to Regions Bank for sponsoring the Thursday night festivities!
The Class of 1967 celebrated 50 years at the Alumni Tailgate. Mrs. Beaty’s 2nd graders love Coach Curtis!
Awards and Recognition
Congratulations to the Wright Players and crew for winning “BEST IN SHOW” in the Studio Theatre category at the Walter Trumbauer State Theatre Competition with their performance of Too Many Daughters! Actresses selected as All Star Cast members were Katie Pappas and Madison McGilberry, also Kaitlyn Read won Best Actress! Katie Morris won 1st place in the Novice Stage Management category, and collectively the group earned 5 individual event Excellent ratings and 11 individual event Superior ratings!
The UMS-Wright robotics team competed in the Jubilee BEST Robotics competition at USA Mitchell Center. In 42 days, the team built an exhibit booth, created a marketing presentation, wrote an engineering notebook, and constructed a robot. UMS-Wright had an overall finish in the top 3 and earned the iHeart Radio BEST Video Award. Congratulations to the team for their hard work.
The Mr. and Mrs. H.W. Thurber, Jr. Scholarship was presented to Kaitlyn Read. Kaitlyn is pictured here with members of the Thurber family, Mary Esther Elliott, Kathy Thurber, Win Thurber, Helen Thurber, Courtenay Rocconi, and Margaret Delaney. Congratulations to all of the grade winners who participated in the Middle School Spelling Bee! 5th grade: Bo Wills and Hilton Nguyen, 6th grade: Henry Arras and Elizabeth Catranis, 7th grade: Paul Murray and Connor Fowler, 8th grade: Grace Lyons and Ella Fridrikkson. After many grueling rounds, Grace Lyons won the competition and Paul Murray placed 2nd.
Mrs. Roberts’s 5th grade art students made a special tribute on Veterans Day to the service men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting our freedom!
A petting zoo came to visit our K3 students in October!
The Sophomores & Juniors covered 9 campuses in 4 days on the College Campus Tour – Southern Methodist University, Texas Christian University, Baylor University, St. Edwards University, University of Texas, Rice University, Louisiana State University, Tulane University and Loyola University!
A triple major in chemistry, biology and philosophy, Christian Pearsall ’14 is the University of South Alabama’s first Rhodes Scholar Finalist. If chosen, Pearsall will be one of 32 Americans awarded the opportunity to study at the University of Oxford in England.
Mrs. Passmore’s K5 class loved riding the covered wagon at Linda’s Learning Farm.
The Junior Optimist Club donated 17 Thanksgiving bags for the Sybil Smith Family Village! They also collected money to buy turkeys and other miscellaneous items needed for the residents’ Thanksgiving dinners.

Members of the FCA attended the 51st Annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast.
8th grader, Blakeslee Elliott is the 1A-5A Diving State Champion for the second year in a row, and 7th grader, Tori Waters placed 3rd in the competition!
Mrs. Joiner’s Math class used Skittles or M&Ms to differentiate between theoretical and experimental probabilities!
SPECIAL GUESTS ON CAMPUS
The Mobile Sherriff’s department visited an assembly to talk about the importance of seat belt safety! The students also got a special surprise visit from one of the police dogs!
The “Many Faces of George Washington Exhibit” offered students an opportunity to learn more about Washington’s life, and also different aspects of his leadership and character!
Our Greats & Grands joined the Lower School students at the book fair!
Andy Newton ’90 was recognized as the 2017 Alumnus of the Year!
Meteorologist Alan Sealls spoke to our 3rd graders about weather and safety!
Dr. Lee Grimm visited Mrs. Collins’ K4 class during community helpers week!
