Our K4 students enjoyed celebrating their Dads when they recently invited them to campus for donuts and a visit in their classrooms.
Our K3 students hosted their dads for a “Dogs with Dad” lunch.

Presents...
Through the Arts Exploratory program, every 5th and 6th grader has the opportunity to participate in an Arts rotation! The program includes classes in theater, chorus, band and visual art.
The Lower School Chorus presented “Broadway Beat!”
The Wright Players performed their Spring Showcase in the form of 20 neo-futurist plays from Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind by Greg Allen to be performed in 40 minutes. The crowd was on the edge of their seats as the Wright Players completed all 20 plays with under 5 minutes to spare!
The Middle School Drama Club presented Seussical. Thank you to our sponsors Encore Rehabilitation Inc. and Iberia Bank.
Awards & Recognition
Winners of our Bookmark Contest were able to enjoy a Chick-fil-A lunch with author Gordon Korman. Pictured below are our Lower School (grades 3-4) winners and pictured above are our Middle School winners. It was such a treat for these students to get to visit with this celebrated author! Congratulations to Jo Jo Feinstein on being selected for the All-Star Team at the Coastal Alabama Community College Scholars Bowl Competition.
Mary Webster Burke, Noah Siegel, Ian Lynch, and Rebekah Chappell earned 3 Superiors and 1 Excellent rating at the Alabama Conference of Theatre at St. James School in Montgomery.
Congratulations to Caitlin McIlwain on winning the BryantJordan Student Athlete Scholar Award!
The Middle School Academic Challenge Champions presented their trophy to Mr. Lathan. They were undefeated all year! David Shivers won the Distinguished Young Women’s Senior Division for this year’s SPOTLIGHT Talent Showcase. He was awarded $500 which was donated to the UMS-Wright Arts program!
Cheney David and Amelia Cole presented Mr. Barber with the Superior plaque they received at the State Ensemble Performance Festival.
Leland Moore and Will Burton presented Mr. Barber with the Superior trophy they received at the Alabama Bandmasters Association State Assessment.

Tennis Champs This WIN makes TEN! Congratulations to the Girls Tennis Team for winning the state title for the 10th year in a row!
Track champs
Congratulations to the Girls Track Team and Coaches who brought home the State Championship Title. This was the 15th Girls Track State Championship under Head Coach Pat Galle.
Congratulations on a fantastic soccer season. We will miss this group of seniors so much!
The Symphonic Wind Ensemble, 8th-12th grade, performed at the Alabama State Music Assessment at Baker High School. The Wind Ensemble received all Superior ratings in Concert and Sight-reading which is the highest honor a band can receive.
The UMS-Wright Chess Team finished in the Top 3 in three out of four divisions of play at Daphne High School for the Mobile-Baldwin County Chess League Tournament!

STUDENTS OUT AND ABOUT
Señora Lawrence and her Spanish II students visited Tulane University to explore their Latin American Library. Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to be hands-on with archival materials and view lithographs and ink rubbings of Mayan monuments by artist and explorer Frederick Catherwood! They also saw photographs and stereocards documenting the construction of the Panama Canal! Look at these brave first graders having an up-close encounter with reptiles while on their field trip to Alligator Alley!
Our 10-12th grade Physics, Chemistry, and Environmental/Marine Science students visited Walt Disney World during Mardi Gras break for an educational trip where learning came to life!

LYON NEWELL CHARITY THROWS MEET Thank you everyone who came out to support the Lyon Newell Charity Throws Meet! Proceeds from this year’s event benefitted the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Greater Mobile Leadership MS Class 2017 and the Lyon Newell Scholarship.
