LUNCH

All campers will need to bring their own lunch and morning snack. We will provide a daily afternoon popsicle. Lunch will take place in classrooms or wherever the camp is based, to avoid shared surfaces.

EXTENDED CARE Extended Care has been cancelled for Summer 2020.

MEDICAL

If your camper has allergies or other medical conditions that we should be aware of, please let us know. All EpiPens and emergency medication will be stored during the week in a location that is accessible by camp teachers and directors. They will be returned with your camper at the end of the week. Campers are not allowed to self-carry and/or self-medicate. We cannot dispense any over the counter medicines during camp.

SAFETY PLAN

A safety plan has been created for each day camp, and we have emailed those plans to all rising K5-6th grade UMS-Wright families. This plan includes campus entry, exit, screening, physical standards, environmental cleaning, personal hygiene, and symptom monitoring.

Climbers Day Camp is an excellent opportunity to make friends and learn new things! Filled with non-stop fun, this camp includes water play, reading, arts and crafts, free play, rest time, and more. WEEK 4: STEM WEEK June 22-26

Join us for STEM week as we dive into all kinds of hands-on experiments that help us understand how the world works. We will create, explore, discover, and test theories through different STEM experiments. We will also use our senses to gather information and make predictions.

WEEK 5: RED, WHITE, AND THE BLUES! June 29-July 2 *4 Days Only

Come join us as we celebrate our country and its music genres! We will listen to some of our favorite music genres, all while creating American-themed crafts that show our patriotism! It’s time to celebrate America the Beautiful, and all our favorite tunes that go along with it.

WEEK 3: DISNEY WEEK June 15-19

During our first week of camp, we will revisit all of our favorite Disney characters! Whether you love Elsa and Olaf, or Buzz Lightyear and Sherriff Woody…we know you will have a blast during this Disney-filled week.

WEEK 6: SUPERHEROES IN TRAINING July 6-10

Who is your favorite superhero? This week, we will celebrate our favorite superheroes while learning about what makes each of them so great. We even will make our own personal superhero capes! Up, up, and away!

WEEK 7: SAFARI July 13-17

Join us this week as our campers go on a wild life safari! We will go on an animal hunt around campus, learn about different animals, and play all kinds of animal games.

WEEK 8: UNDER THE SEA July 20-24

Do you wish you lived in the ocean? This week is all things under the sea! We will make sea animal crafts, learn about all kinds of sea creatures, and play sharks and minnows. We are sure to have a wet and wild time.

WEEK 9: DINOSAUR WEEK! July 27-31

This week is all about dinosaurs! We will hunt for dinosaur fossils, make dino eggs, and create all kinds of dinosaur art! We will even learn a dance move called the Dinosaur Stomp. It is sure to be Velocirific!

J U N I O R D A Y C A M P RISING 1st - 2nd Grades Our Junior Day Campers will start their days off with learning adventures and finish the day cooling off at the pool! Join these campers as they explore new skills, conquer new challenges, make new friends, and have fun! This camp has daily pool time.

This week, no mission is impossible as we strengthen our brains to conquer all kinds of mental puzzles and challenges. Whether deciphering messages written in invisible ink or creating a treasure hunt for fellow campers, there is no task too hard for us!

WEEK 5: AMERICAN DECADES June 29-July 2 *4 days only

It’s time to celebrate the birth of America while revisiting some of our favorite decades of the 20th century! Who was the president when your parents were your age? What’s a floppy disc and who is Zack Morris? We will enjoy learning about our nation’s history and trends while having fun along the way.

WEEK 3: GAME SHOW CHALLENGE June 15-19

Did you think we meant hand-held devices? Think again! This week is all about playing some of our favorite game shows! We will revisit the classics, like Family Feud, as well as learn some of our favorite messier game shows, like Double Dare. We will end the week with a Lip Sync Battle.

This week will be all about learning what it is like to be in the spotlight! Come join us as we fine tune our performing skills through charades, improv challenges, and interviews.

WEEK 7: LEADERSHIP WEEK July 13-17

Join us this week as we show how UMSWright students go above and beyond in everything that we do. We will combine activities that strengthen the mind, body, and spirit, all while making new friends and keeping the old.We will end our week completing a community service project.

WEEK 8: SURVIVOR July 20-24

Can you verbally lead a blindfolded teammate through an obstacle course? There is only one way to find out! Campers will have to swallow their fear, as well as rely on their teammates to make it through all types of problem-solving, teamwork, and endurance challenges. Warning: this could get messy!

WEEK 9: OLYMPIC SUMMER GAMES July 27-31

Come celebrate the Summer Olympics with us as we create our own version, TOKYO style! We will start the week off with the lighting of the Olympic torch, dividing into countries, and creating flags to represent each team. Which country will claim victory? Konnichiwa, TOKYO!

COMPREHENSION CAMPOUT

Looking to improve your ACT scores? With an average composite score increase of 4 points, this results-driven ACT prep course is taught by master teachers and has helped hundreds of students earn scholarships to colleges by improving ACT scores. This course will include skill review in reading, English, math, and science, while fine-tuning time management and testtaking strategies. All books for this course will be provided. We recommend completion of Algebra 2 prior to this course.

Come improve your comprehension and working memory with exciting stories. We will use Story Retelling, created by Neuhaus Education Center, to help us build oral language and listening comprehension skills. Repeated exposures in a variety of ways can heighten students’ awareness of words and sounds. This development is essential in leading to the ultimate goal of reading which is comprehension. For this reason, we will be pairing our reading camp with outside/camping related activities. The children will use their literacy skills to prepare for the ultimate reading campout!

RISING 11th-12th GRADERS

TECHNOLOGY CAMP RISING 3rd-6th GRADERS

Campers will have the opportunity to show their creative side, while learning essential programs on an iPad. Campers will begin by traveling around the world via Google Earth, capturing and editing photos and videos to create compelling slideshows, researching topics to create keynote presentations that will be shared on Apple TV, and so much more. Come join us as we begin to explore all the world of technology has to offer. Cost: $175

Camps TYPING FOR BEGINNERS RISING 5th-8th GRADERS

Typing correctly is important! In this summer camp, middle school campers will dive head first into typing both correctly, and efficiently in this hands-on typing adventure. Campers will learn the importance of the home keys, proper hand position, alternate keystrokes and common keyboard shortcuts, all while encouraging students to strengthen typing speed and accuracy. Cost: $175

SUMMER READING DEEP DIVE RISING 5th-8th GRADERS

Campers will dive deep into their summer reading during this summer camp! We will read the books, map out our summer reading assignments, examine characters, vocabulary, plot, figurative language, and imagery. Students must bring their summer reading books and materials. Please note that this summer camp has nightly required homework and reading in order to complete all portions of the deep dive in a timely manner. If possible, please bring your school laptop, and earbuds or headphones. Cost: $175

Keep your child engaged this summer with a funfilled academic camp. Science, art, and games are infused in our day. We will review important skills while we explore, learn, and play! Grab a bathing suit and towel because when the work is done, we will go outside to slip-n-slide and enjoy the summer sun! K5 campers will review math shapes, numbers, counting, and concepts of print. First grade campers will review addition, subtraction, place value, sentence structures, and reading comprehension.

Let's set your second grader up for success with this reading, math, and grammar focused camp. Students will use manipulatives, strengthen math fluency, tackle number patterns, and learn problem-solving strategies for various math tasks. Students will also work on applying spelling patterns to writing, understanding what they are reading, and tackle some summer reading tasks along the way. *All students attending this class must complete all required summer reading books prior to start of class.

Join us for this camp as we prepare your rising 4th grader for the academic school year. We will work on math skills, including fact fluency, word problems, and place value as well as reading, writing, and grammar skills. BEGINNER SWIMMING RISING K5-1st GRADERS

Calling all novice swimmers! It’s time to put on your swim gear and fine-tune your swimming skills with our very own state-championship-winning Varsity coach, Coach Bedsole! In this beginner class, swimmers will learn how to swim with face in water, swim with kickboards and noodles, tread water, swim freestyle and backstroke, and basic diving and safety skills. Cost: $125

CHEERLEADING

RISING K5-6th GRADERS

Campers will be grouped by age and will learn and develop the fundamentals of cheerleading, including motion technique, jumps, tumbling, voice projection, poise, and spirit! New cheers, chants, and a dance routine will be taught. Campers will receive a camp t-shirt to wear on the last day of camp when parents will be invited to a pep rally. Varsity Cheerleader Coach Shay Owen and the Varsity Cheerleaders will instruct. Note: Girls planning to cheer for the 3rd-6th grade Bulldog Athletic Association this fall should attend this camp. BASEBALL CAMP

RISING K5-8th GRADERS

UMS-Wright Baseball Camp will assist with hitting, catching, fielding, and base-running. Camp features game type stimulation to teach strategy and will help correct faults and perfect skills. UMS-Wright Head Baseball Coach Kevin Raley, his varsity staff,

and varsity players will instruct. Camp will be held on Radcliff Field. Boys planning to try out for middle school baseball for the 2021 season should make every effort to attend camp. Please bring your own glove and baseball bat. Cost: $125

PITCHING CLINIC

RISING K5-8th GRADERS

This one-day camp will focus on pitching fundamentals and mechanics. Proper techniques will be taught through drills and videos. UMS-Wright Head Baseball Coach Kevin Raley will instruct. Please bring your own glove. Cost: $60 *This is a one day camp.

GIRLS BASKETBALL CAMP RISING 1st-8th GRADERS

This camp’s goal is to teach and work on the basic fundamentals of basketball. We will work on dribbling, passing, shooting, and other basics throughout the week. Campers will be grouped by grade and skill level to ensure the best opportunity for success. Varsity Girls’ Head Coach Terry Canova and his team will instruct. Cost: $125

SWINGING BULLDOG GOLF

CAMP/CLINIC: RISING K5-8th GRADERS

K5-4th Graders: This one-day camp is led by varsity boys head coach and current PGA Class A professional, Adam Boehm. The camp will focus on grip, stance, posture, proper set-up, full-swing techniques, short game (chipping and putting), and basic rules. Golfers will be grouped by age and skill level. Please send your golfers with clubs, or

Camps with enough advanced notice, we will make arrangements to provide them. Cost: $60 *This is a one day camp. 5th-8th Graders: This one-day clinic is open for all middle school golfers looking to advance their talents to the next level. Also led by Adam Boehm, this clinic will focus on proper swing mechanics, short game, course management, mental game, and rules. Cost: $60 *This is a one day camp.

OUTDOOR SOCCER RISING 1st-8th GRADERS

UMS-Wright Co-ed Soccer Camp will focus on defending, passing, shooting, dribbling, trapping and heading. UMS-Wright Varsity Head Coaches Christy Alford and Ruben Risco will instruct. There will be daily outdoor and indoor time as well as pool time! Please wear light clothes and bring your soccer cleats, shin guards, tennis shoes, ball, bathing suit, and towel. Cost: $125

FUTSAL –INDOOR SOCCER RISING 5th-8th GRADERS

Futsal comes from “futbol”, meaning soccer, and “sala," meaning indoor. Futsal is all about ball control, precision-passing, and quick thinking. Futsal camp will work on passing, receiving, dribbling, and shooting, as well as mental skills, such as decision-making, collaboration, competitiveness, and grit. Varsity Soccer Coaches Ruben Risco and Christy Alford will instruct. Please bring a swimsuit and towel. Cost: $125 Dates: Monday June 15th – Thursday, June 18th 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

TENNIS CAMP (Mobile Tennis Center) RISING 2nd-6th GRADERS

This camp will focus on the fundamentals of tennis, including groundstrokes, volleys, serves, rules, and scoring. Instructor Tanya Dixon has represented the Bahamas in the Federation Cup, attended the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy, and played four years of tennis for the University of South Alabama.

UMS-Wright Lacrosse Camp will help campers develop the fundamental skills of being a successful lacrosse player. Coached by the varsity coaching staff and varsity players, campers will be directed through various drills, simulations, and games. This camp is open to players of all skill levels. Cost: $125

During this camp, our friendly and experienced team will teach your kids the various skills required to be an expert bowler. This includes the basics, such as how to hold the ball, where to stand on the lane, your approach footwork, and even how to bowl the perfect strike! This camp is taught by UMS-Wright Varsity Bowling Coach, Wing Brett, and UMS-Wright transportation will be provided to and from Eastern Shore Lanes. Cost: $125

TERRY CURTIS FOOTBALL CAMP

Our camp will be a great opportunity for kids to try the game of softball for the very first time and also help the experienced player sharpen their skills through fundamental drills and playing experience. The participants will be instructed by our Varsity softball coaches and players. Cost: $125

BOYS BASKETBALL CAMP Campers will learn the fundamentals of passing, shooting, ball handling, rebounding, and defensive positioning. Daily contests include Free Throw Shootout, Hot Shot, Skills competition, and 3-3.

Each day will also feature a motivational time where campers learn about the role of enthusiasm and work ethic as they pursue their dreams. DANCE OF THE SUMMER PLUM FAIRIES RISING K4-3rd GRADERS

Come beat the heat and join us for the Nutcracker in July! During this summer camp, students will learn dances and make costumes for their very own Nutcracker performance! A leotard will be provided. Campers will need to have pink ballet shoes and pink tights. We will end the week with our very own performance of the Nutcracker on Thursday, July 23rd at 11:00 a.m. for family and friends in the UMSWright auditorium. This camp will be under the direction of Shay Owen and Renee McAleer. Cost: $125 Dates: Monday, July 20th – Thursday, July 23rd 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

VOLLEYBALL CAMP RISING 3rd-8th GRADERS

Varsity Head Coach Carolyn Houston and her staff will be teaching campers the fundamentals of serving, passing, setting, attacking, and basic skills. There will be individual and team drills/games that will allow our campers to experience success. Note: Athletes planning on playing middle school volleyball will benefit from and should attend this camp.

1st-4th Graders: Our youngest campers will learn the proper fundamentals for each position or running, and for total effort while having fun and working hard. Campers will also learn some strength and conditioning exercises and will participate in punt, pass, and kick competition along with team play.

5th-8th Graders: We will emphasize our entire program including technique, as well as strength and conditioning. UMS-Wright football staff and players will be leading this camp. Our goals are to teach proper fundamentals, basics of running, and total effort, and to have fun while working hard. This camp will be beneficial whether or not your long range goal is to be a football player.

Celebrate the 2020 Summer Olympics right here in our very own swimming pool! Led by championship winning swim coach Vicky Bedsole, swimmers will compete for their country as well as cover all four strokes, water safety, lifesaving skills, competition dives, flip turns, and more. Campers must be able to swim the entire length of the pool independently.

How can I spread kindness to others? This camp will teach you that it only takes one person to make a difference. Join the Kindness Kids Club as we focus on how to make our home, school and community a better place by performing Random Acts of Kindness. Campers will perform random acts of kindness around our school, neighborhood, and community as well as gain a deeper understanding of selflessness, compassion, and servants heart. Cost: $125 Dates: Monday, June 1st – Thursday, June 4th 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

HOW TO STRESS LESS RISING 2nd-4th GRADERS

School, friends, homework, extracurricular activities...oh my! Stress! Stress! Stress! How to Stress Less! campers will learn strategies to cope with day to day stressors. We will learn mindfulness, belly breathing, yoga, journaling, and make stress balls and Calm Down Tubes. We also will learn how routines, sleep, exercise, and food play into stress. Join us as we learn how to chill out and relax! Cost: $125 Dates: Monday, June 1st – Thursday, June 4th 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

PHOTOGRAPHY CAMP RISING 2nd-5th GRADERS

Photography camp will be a fun-filled week of learning about digital photography! Each day will

be a hands-on adventure as we take photos around campus, learn the basics of composition and digital photography, and then use these photos in arts and crafts projects that you can take home! Each student should bring their own camera (any kind of digital camera is acceptable). If you do not have a camera, we may be able to provide one for you. All other supplies will be provided. Cost: $150 Dates: Monday, June 8th – Thursday, June 11th 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

CUPCAKE WARS

RISING 3rd-6th GRADERS

1-2-3-4, I declare a cupcake war! Have you ever wondered how the pros make those cupcakes so beautiful and delicious, and competition is your middle name? Then, this week is for you! We will begin with designing and making our very own custom apron, as we dive into mixing, measuring, baking, and frosting our most creative creations! We will finish the week with baking and decorating challenges. May the best cupcake win! All supplies are included. Cost: $165 Dates: Monday, June 8th – Thursday, June 11th 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Camps explore rhythm, pitch, dynamics, and tempo as we try out different rhythm instruments and learn to read simple rhythm patterns. We will explore a different genre of music each day, including jazz, blues, rock, classical, and musical theater. We will create arts and crafts inspired by different pieces of music, and even have a singalong to some of our favorite songs! This is a creative experience that your child will not want to miss. Cost: $150

K4 BECOMING A BULLDOG RISING K4

We’re so glad you’re a bulldog! Now join us for some fun! This camp is open to K4 Bulldogs to learn all about UMS-Wright. We will explore different places on campus, meet Bully, learn to cheer for the Bulldogs, and so much more! Make new friends, practice cutting and gluing, read books, sing songs, and explore a K4 classroom. This camp focuses on interpersonal skills, cooperation during group work and play time, listening skills, and fine motor skills. This week will get you excited and ready to start K4! Cost: $150

Let your imagination run wild with Legos and Ozobot. Build and program a gorilla, crane or dumptruck. Construct a robot dog with moving parts. Create a LEGO maze and code Ozobot to find his way. Explore your craziest ideas with friends in a supportive environment! This camp will sharpen your engineering, coding, and problem-solving skills as well as help you understand and apply the scientific method. Cost: $150

JEWELRY MAKING CAMP RISING 5th-8th GRADERS

Come one, come all to UMS-Wright’s JewelryMaking Camp! Campers will learn to make several sets of popular, trendy artisan jewelry pieces. Rising 5th-8th graders will learn to work with a variety of materials such as leather, concrete, resin, and wire to create custom, one-of-a-kind accessories to enjoy long after camp is over. Campers will learn how to use jewelry tools such as pliers and molds, will learn the proper cleaning and storage methods for each piece, and will create a storage case for their jewelry creations. All materials and jewelry pliers will be supplied. Cost: $165

ENHANCING THE MIND, BODY, AND SPIRIT RISING 5th-8th GRADERS

As you prepare for all things middle school, come learn about ways to prepare your mind, body, and spirit for the challenges that lie ahead. We will cover ways to handle stress, peer pressure, and bullying. We will also dive into nutrition information and physical fitness as we mold our bodies for the upcoming school year. Join us in learning how to respond to emergencies using first aid techniques and becoming the best version of yourself! There will be music, food, crafts, and physical activities each day to get the mind, body, and spirit warmed up and ready for an awesome school year. Yoga mats are optional, but not required. Tennis shoes should be worn. Cost: $150

Come learn about UMS-Wright before you start “big school” in August! We will play, make crafts, and have tons of fun! Campers will become familiar with the UMS-Wright campus, classroom, classroom routines, and have fun with new friends.

Happy campers will experience hands-on art activities and experiment with a variety of techniques and mediums. Activities will relate to exciting subjects and art history. TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAMWORK RISING K4-2nd GRADERS

This camp will show you what teamwork, sportsmanship, and fitness are all about! Campers will play some of our favorite playground games, such as Simon Says, Red Rover, Four Square, and Red Light, Green Light. There will be so much variety that no two days will be the same. Campers will be divided into groups based on skill and ability, allowing all campers to have fun while being challenged at their own level. Cost: $150

Introductory level to advanced. Campers will be introduced to the fundamentals of the game and will learn how to improve their skills outside of the camp as well. Whether you are an experienced player or learning how the pieces move, coaches are ready to tailor a plan to fit your needs and skill level.

Calling all funny and smart kids out there, whether outgoing or shy! Build up your confidence while having fun on stage in a safe and inclusive environment at On the Spot! Improv Camp. Come and learn the basic skills of improvised theatre, while sharpening your performance, comedic timing, listening, and communication skills, all while improving your ability to work with others.

Have you ever wondered how to sew on a button or fold clothes like Martha Stewart? Home Ec. 101 is your chance to learn all kinds of skills that will come in handy for the rest of your life! We will begin the week choosing recipes and learning how to develop grocery lists. We also will learn how to do our laundry using our own laundry brought from home...not to mention the Martha Stewart way of folding. We will end the week with a trip to the grocery store, so we can bring home our prepped meals that will be ready to pop in the oven. This camp is sure to be an experience to remember. Cost: $175

SPANISH IMMERSION CAMP RISING K5-5th GRADERS

Give your child the gift of language and cultural immersion through authentic resources and fun-filled activities! Together, we will travel to Spanish speaking countries through virtual reality field trips, experience playing sports their way, cook traditional foods, listen to Latin music, learn their dances, and enjoy outdoor water games...all while tuning our ears to Spanish! WITHDRAWALS AND REFUNDS

In case of a camper’s withdrawal from the program, the Director of Summer Programs must be notified via e-mail before May 1, 2020 or full payment will still be due. A $50 cancellation fee will be charged. No refunds will be granted after May 1, 2020. UMS-Wright reserves the right to cancel a program if the minimum numbers are not met or if an unforeseen circumstance occurs. Notification of cancellation of a program will be done as early as possible and a full refund will be issued.

Please register your child only if you feel confident they will be attending camp that week. This helps us adjust for staffing, ensure FACTS account billing is correct, and fill spots in case of waitlists. Thank you for understanding.
