We see the engineer in you! This is not your grandfather’s engineering. Don’t be mistaken. Engineers today share common ground with engineers of the past. But, they also have access to a multitude of new career fields and research opportunities that reflect our rapidly changing world. Nearly everything we touch today and everything that will affect our lives in the future is connected to engineering. From cell phones and alternative fuel to the roads we use and groundbreaking chemical compounds that save lives, engineering is inherent in today’s world. What are some of our graduates doing now? • Researching projects for NASA • Creating materials that protect buildings against bombs • Developing facial recognition software for Apple and Android devices • Serving as an editor for Wired magazine • Working for companies such as ExxonMobil, General Electric and Halliburton • Serving as lawyers, surgeons, athletes, research scientists, architects, educators, military officers … The list goes on and on. Whether you are seeking a rigorous undergraduate major, challenging research options or expanded career opportunities, you will find them all at the University of Mississippi School of Engineering.
