Welcome to UMW! 7:30 – 8:30 a.m.

Arrival | Bell Tower on Double Drive UMW staff will provide you with a parking permit and direct you to park.

Check-In | The “Link” between Randolph and Mason Halls Students and guests will receive all check-in materials. University Welcome | Lee Hall 411 9:00 - 9:30 a.m. Students and their guests will be welcomed by Dr. Doug Searcy, Vice President for Student Affairs, and other administrators. Hear about the UMW mission, values, and the community of honor. 7:30 – 8:45 a.m.

9:30 - 10:15 a.m.

Getting Connected at UMW | Lee Hall 411 Student life representatives will discuss out-of-class opportunities for fun and experiential learning. Learn more about becoming connected with your peers.

10:15 - 10:30 a.m.

Building Your Nest: Financial and Billing Services | Lee Hall 411 Learn about managing your financial aid and student accounts.

10:45 - 11:15 a.m

Commuter and Residential Living | Lee Hall 411 For all students and their families. Learn about Campus Safety, Business Services, Dining Services and living on and off campus.

11:15 - 11:45 a.m.

Students meet with Orientation Leaders

11:15 - 11:45 a.m.

Living On Campus | Lee Hall 412 The residence life staff will review everything you need to know about your student living on campus.

11:15 - 11:45 a.m.

Community for Commuters | Lee Hall 412 Learn how to assist your commuter student to make connections on campus and balance the busy life of a university student.

Noon - 12:45 p.m.

Lunch and Community Fair | Seacobeck Hall, Dome Room Enjoy lunch and take some time to visit information tables from campus and community partners such as area banks, local transportation, and UMW Family Weekend.

1:00- 1:45 p.m.

Academics at UMW | Lee Hall 411 Learn about the colleges, schedules, tutoring options, and expectations of being a UMW student. This session will introduce you to proven methods for getting the most out of classes and will advise you where to go for assistance.

1:45 p.m.

Student Academic Advising and Registration | Various Locations Students will meet Orientation Leaders to depart for Academic Registration.

2:00-3:10 p.m.

Concurrent Sessions | Various Locations Guests are invited to choose one session within each time slot. See descriptions below. Students may join at the conclusion of Academic Registration. This time also may be used to visit UMW offices (open until 5 p.m.).

UMW Education Abroad: Go Global | Lee Hall, Room 412 Growing numbers of UMW students are taking advantage of the opportunity to study abroad in a variety of ways. This session, hosted by the Center for International Education, will acquaint you with the everincreasing range of options that UMW is making available for overseas study, research, or volunteerism. Internships: Bridges to Your Future | Lee Hall 411 It’s never too early to start planning for your future. The Office of Academic and Career Services will introduce you to UMW’s active internship program, and the variety of services they offer to help students get ready for employment and careers. Disability Resources | Lee Hall 414 UMW offers a broad range of services and assistive technology. Each student may require a different approach in order to achieve equal access to programs and services. 2:40 – 3:10 p.m.

Pick up your EagleOne Card. If you submitted your photo early, you will receive this at check-in. If you haven’t submitted a photo, make sure you stop by the EagleOne Card Office in Lee Hall 110 between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Sign-up for Alert UMW at alert.umw.edu. This is a system that allows the University to contact you during an emergency through e-mail and text message.

Register for Family Weekend at umw.edu/familyweekend. and mark your calendar for September 20-22, 2013. You don’t want to miss it!

Explore Fredericksburg! From Eagle Village to our Historic Downtown, there is so much to see and do. Trolley Tours leave from the Visitor Center downtown at 10:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. (additional cost is associated). Call (800) 979-3370 to reserve a seat!
