1. PRESENTATION The Library of the University of Navarra places at the disposal of its users a collection of over one million volumes and a considerable amount of electronic resources, with ample opening hours and installations endowed with adequate infrastructures for research and study.
In these pages information of interest for users is included, which can be extended by consulting the Library’s Web Page, which I invite the reader to consult. On behalf of the professionals who work in the Library of the University of Navarra, I wish to cordially greet those reading these pages, and I thank you in advance for any suggestions or proposals you should wish to put forth so that we may continue to improve the services we are offering.

2. ACCESS TO THE SERVICES To use the Library services, users must have a University card. It will be provided in a different location according to the type of user: · Students, postgraduates, MA students: General Offices. · Lecturers and staff: Human Resources Service. · Alumni Navarrensis members: Bibliographic Information Desk (new Humanities Library building). · Faculty guests: Head of Department who vouched them.
3. CAMPUS LIBRARIES
3.1. Humanities Library It locates the different departments of the Library which are in charge of the management of the bibliographic collection and its processing. The following rooms are also there: · Newspaper Room: 58 seats available. For users carrying out research with newspapers and periodicals, it contains general information and the official gazettes and periodicals collection. · Multimedia Room: 22 seats available. It contains DVDs, VHS videos, cassettes, vinyl records, CD-ROM, microfiche, etc., with appropriate playback facilities. · Researchers Room: 615 seats available and 9 seminar rooms are available to users. For the exclusive use of researchers (lecturers, postgraduates, etc.), it covers the Law, Humanities and Social Science bibliographic collection. · Undergraduates Room: 491 seats available and 12 computers for bibliographic searches and requests. It contains the recommended reading lists of the different subject areas together with the books most frequently used by students. · Group Study Room: 20 seats available for a maximum of 4 groups. · Reference Room: 72 seats available. It contains all the general-content items (dictionaries, encyclopedias, index collections, etc). · Special Collections Room: It is provided with 12 seats and a reference collection. It offers items that require special care because of their antiquity or value: printed items previous to 1835, items of notable interest, dedicated items, drawings, engravings, etc. · Repository: It contains less-used books and periodicals.

3.2. Science Library
672 seats available and 80 computers according to the following: · Silent Study Area: 572 individual work seats, as well as 20 computer workstations. It contains the bibliographic collection of Experimental Sciences, divided in two areas: one for the Recommended Reading list of the different subjects and another one for Research books and periodicals. · Group Study Rooms: 13 (total capacity 84 seats), for group work and preparation of presentations. · Researchers Room: 32 seats for the exclusive use of researchers of Experimental Sciences (lecturers, postgraduates, etc.) · Computer Room: 32 computer workstations. It is intended for online search of scientific information and can be reserved for classes and seminars. · Repository: It contains less-used books and periodicals. · Lockers: 40 lockers available for lecturers and researchers and 64 lockers for students.

3.3. Architecture Library This Library is mainly destined to the students, professors and researchers of the School of Architecture. Recently reformed, it uses the RFID System, it is endowed with a procedure for the self-loaning of books, and it has a total of 30 work-stations for students and 3 computers for consultations, as well as an area reserved for professors, Masters and Doctoral candidates, with 22 work-stations and 2 computers. The collection offers free access to all its users. The Library of the School of Architecture has a collection of more than 12.000 volumes and more than 200 specialized journals in print or on-line. Some of the earliest issues of some journals, as well as less frequently used books are classified in the Deposit of the Library of Humanities and can be accessed there for consultation purposes.
3.4. Ecclesiastical Studies Library 99 seats available. There is a room for lecturers, researchers and students which locates the materials related to the Ecclesistical studies areas. 3.5. University Hospital Library It is situated on the 8th floor of the University Hospital. Equipped with 40 desks and a book and periodical collection for the use of medical staff and researchers who also have access to the bibliographic collection of the University Science Library.

4. SERVICES 4.1 Search, Access and Information Management
UNIKA Unika is a search engine that allows one to jointly consult information sources found in the Library in an electronic format and on paper. What is contained in UNIKA? - The Library Catalogue: books, electronic books, audiovisual materials, etc. - The majority of materials found in Sabio: articles, journals, electronic books, press, legislation, doctoral dissertations, contents of specialized data bases, etc. - The contents of Dadun: papers, keynote addresses, articles, proceedings from congresses, etc. How can one access Unika? Searches can be carried out from the Unika Web Site and from the Library web link. Unika is also available in a mobile version or by means of applications for Android and Iphone (accessible from the main Unika Web Page), as well as a plugin of the Internet navigators Explorer and Firefox. Searches and access to Unika can be carried out from within the campus, and in the case of students, professors and employees, also from outside the University by means of the corresponding identification code.

CATALOG SEARCH
Access is attained by means of the Library Web Page. Users may ascertain the existence of the work being sought, its present state, and may carry out petitions, reservations of loaned copies, etc., as well as renewing the loan on works presently borrowed. Also from the Catalogue, one may access many e-books and on-line documents in their complete versions.

SABIO (Online Access and information search System)
Sabio is the access portal to the Library electronic resources: · Electronic Journals Search · Electronic Resources Search · Articles and e-books locator · Electronic Journal and book Portals · My Portal Sabio offers access to the full text if the electronic version is available; or else offers a search of the Library catalogue to check if the printed version is available. If not, it can be used to request the document through the interlibrary loan application form. DADUN (Universidad de Navarra Digital Academic Repository) Dadun is the open access institutional repository that collects, preserves and disseminates papers reflecting academic and scientific activity at the University of Navarra. It facilitates the long-term availability of documents, because they are stored in one place, as well as document visibility because its document has a permanent URL which makes online searchers easier, thus enhancing its public availability. To deposit documents in Dadun you must register on “My Dadun”, entering e-mail address and password and e-mail the administrator to obtain permission to include the publications in the university´s repository. REFWORKS On-line tool that allows you to to import, organize, export and share bibliographical references which later on may be used to write articles and scientific works in the adequate bibliographical format.
Among its applications, Refworks offers:
- Direct importation of bibliographical references. - Manage and share references. - Attach files to the references. - Elaboration of Bibliography. - RefShare, which permits sharing, in an easy manner, data bases or bibliographical reference folders created by users with members of the University or with researchers from other institutions. The users of RefShare can export, print, and generate reference lists and even personalize the final format in the form of folders or data bases, but they are not authorized to edit or modify the references. Write-N-Cite is a complement of Refworks associated with Word which allows one to easily generate quotes and bibliographies from a document in the format of one’s choice.

*The Library has a collection of books in a section called “Read at Home� (shelfmark PLC), which covers a wide range of genres: fiction, poetry, biographies, historical novels, detective novels, classics, etc. This collection is available in the Undergraduates Room in the Humanities Library, in the Architecture Library and in the Science Library. There is also a similar section in English in the Science Library at the ENG shelf-mark, including books by classic authors such as Jane Austen and Charles Dickens, and modern writers such as John Grisham, Tom Clancy and Henning Mankell. Books should be loaned and returned at the Issue Desk (or book boxes). Loans are personal and are made on presentation of a valid Library card or authorised card. All items are available for loan except: reference material (except in the Humanities Researchers Room, for use in the room only through the auto-loan system), printed items between 15th and 19th century, frequent-use editions and collections in rooms, special materials, journals, newspapers, etc.

Auto-Loan In the Researchers Room in the Humanities Library and in the Eclesiastical Studies Library, there are easy to use “Auto-loan Machines�. Every time a book is taken from the shelf in that room to take it to a table, the Auto-loan Machine should be used. The item will then appear in the catalog as borrowed, facilitating the updating of books information at all times. In the Science and Architecture Libraries, books can be issued directly from the Auto-loan machine to take home.
Intersite Loans This service offers the possibility for books and scanned journal articles to be sent from the Humanities Library to the Science-University Hospital libraries and vice versa. This service is available for lecturers, researchers, postgraduates and staff. The request is made through the Library catalogue. Items are collected from the appropriate issue desk, on receiving email notification. Contact: pib@unav.es
Interlibrary Loan This service is for members of the university who require documents from other libraries; and for external centres or institutions which require documents from the University of Navarra. Document receipt is by post, e-mail and delivery service, mostly by e-mail in PDF format, with an average delivery time of between 24 and 72 hours. It is situated on the ground floor of the Humanities Library building and also in the Science Library. Contact: pib@unav.es

User training The Library organises information literacy sessions and other activities to familiarize users with the running, services and resources of their Library. So that users can acquire and develop expertise in the use of the information resources, a “Training Plan”, adjusted to the different types of users, is run throughout the academic year. At the beginning of the academic year, all first-year students have sessions about using the Library. On demand Sessions: Users can complete an online application form to request a specific training session. The Library can prepare individual or group information literacy sessions about a specific subject, about online products or related to special needs. Recommended Resources by Subject Area The Library webpage offers a selection of Subject Area Resources, whether printed or online, from the various teaching and research subjects of the University. Its aim is to guide users to find the most frequently used reference material. Newsletter The Library publishes a Weekly Gazette aimed at lecturers, postgraduates, and researchers. Its purpose is to improve communication between the Library and its users, presenting the most relevant information for their interest. It includes the new bibliographic acquisitions incorporated to the Library in the week previous to the publication of the gazette. To receive the gazette weekly, follow the link on the main Library webpage and complete a simple form. The same link offers access the content of previous gazettes. List of Services A List of Services has been created on the Library’s Web Page, by means of which the Library communicates to its users the commitments it has acquired regarding the quality of the services it provides. This List describes the services offered by the Library. Adherence to this List will facilitate a greater approach to users, whilst improving the internal operation in the provision of this service. Suggestion Box In the Web Page there exists a section open to users permitting them to submit suggestions to the Library Service by means of a form. All the proposals will be duly examined and responded to in the briefest possible time; a summary of the suggestions made by users will be published.
Tutorials The Library has created tutorials that can be found on the Web Page and on the communications channel YouTube. Different topics are discussed: the Library, How to locate Impact Factors, How to carry out searches, Advanced searches, My account with the Library, etc.

Subject Librarian In the Library there exists a group of librarians who are specialized in different subject areas with the aim of acting as links between departments and the Library in matters relating to formation, the acquisition of works, bibliographical assistance, etc.
Furthermore, these librarians can operate as support and reference links in the acquisition of accreditation on the part of ANECA. Reprographics, Printers The Library has a service for the reproduction of the items hold at the University, with teaching and research purposes, either through photocopies, printer, scanner or digitalization. Wireless local area network WI-FI The University wireless network is an extension of the interconnected access points which allows wireless connection to the web services, email, etc., inside the buildings of the University campus.
