Resources Editor The European Universe Awareness (EU-UNAWE) programme uses the beauty and grandeur of the Universe to inspire young children, particularly those from an underprivileged background, to develop an interest in science and technology and to foster a sense of global citizenship. EUUNAWE is an IAU-endorsed programme, which is funded by the European Union. About the role: The Resources Editor will primarily be responsible for evaluating EU-UNAWE educational resources via a peer-review process. This is an unpaid position, but EU-UNAWE will cover the expenses for the Resources Editor to attend some relevant meetings and conferences, including trips to the EUUNAWE International Office at Leiden University, the Netherlands. Essential criteria for the successful applicant: 1. Experience in science education – preferably in astronomy 2. Knowledge of current materials available for astronomy or science education 3. Creative and full of ideas for new educational resources for EU-UNAWE The Resources Editor will: 1. Write reports evaluating the quality of EU-UNAWE educational resources and assist in developing guidelines regarding educational resources and repositories 2. Assemble a network of contacts to peer review EU-UNAWE educational resources, and source producers of educational resources 3. Develop new educational resources and ensure existing materials are catalogued and updated 4. Liaise with resource providers and peer reviewers 5. Report to the EU-UNAWE International Project Manager The EU-UNAWE expects the Resources Editor to dedicate around 5-6 hours/week to the role. This is an unpaid position.
