M ARK BA RR OW F OR PRESI DEN T!
''IÂ will continue to work for the benefits of ALL students, and will ensure your voice is always heard.''
PUTTING STUDENTS FIRST: Engagement: It is important students know what is going on at Undeb Bangor, and how to get involved. This year, I have seen that lecture shout-outs and 'Sabb walkabouts' are all valued by students. I will ensure the Sabbatical team are out there listening and learning from you. Pontio restructure and student canteen: I feel that the University missed a trick when completing Pontio, as there is so much more we could do to make it a place for students to go! I think there should be a student canteen, with reasonably priced food, besides computer rooms/study areas in the empty spaces. Healthy living: I will press the University on providing you with the means to lead a healthy lifestyle. I want kettles and microwaves and water fountains installed. I also want to develop a 'rent a bike' scheme, with all the push bikes that are left behind in Halls, each year. Working with the community/local businesses - job opportunities: I will liaise with local businesses, and set up a 'jobs' section on the Undeb website. This will be a place where employers post job vacancies. Living independently isn't easy, so I want you to be able to get financial support through a range of part-time work opportunities. Plastic-reduction/sustainability: We have had a good start in terms of plastic-reduction this year, but there is still loads more we can do. I will also work with local businesses to set up an accreditation scheme, so that they will be promoted depending on how little plastic they use.

President Gax Liz Person Yo! My current human name is Gax Liz Person, and I am a film studies student, but I have lived for more than 400 years. You might remember my close friend Panos, who also run for president the last few years. People constantly mix us up with each other. I am currently completing my [REDACTED] year in Bangor, I’ve noticed a lot of changes, but also a lot of things staying the same. With my experience of having secretly ruled over several planets, I believe I have what it takes to bring Bangor a new age of triumph. Having lived and shared experiences with students of various different backgrounds, I feel certain that my choices are a reflection of the student body. For example, one of my promises is to sell The Caban to Aberystwyth, and with that money I will ensure that Bangor University will be completely unaffected by the coming of the evil Anti-President. Weekly group meetings will be held with my trusted group of invisible psychic lizardpeople, to make sure that I can be the voice of the students. Said group will also provide a back-up plan for whenever Blackboard gets shut down by using mail carrier pelicans instead. Other noticeable changes done would be an increase in ceiling height in lecture rooms, in order for Bangor to be known as an environment of a high level of educational standards. Finally, I will also turn all the bathrooms into gender-neutral only bathrooms. There are many more promises I intend on keeping, and this is just a tiny slice of that pie. Make sure you whisper my name before you fall asleep, and triumph for all will be guaranteed.

Hello there, my name is Osian Evans and I’m standing for Vice-president for Societies and Volunteering.
Over my years at Bangor university, there has not been a single semester where I have not been part of a society and actively participating in their activities. Thanks to this, I have come to see just how much the societies and volunteering projects add to university life and how they help with broadening the horizons for anyone who joins them.
Wha I pos yo
- Contact One of my main aims is to develop the relations that the Student’s Union has with the rest of the student population, we are here for you and your concerns are our concerns. To do this, I aim to revitalise the last week scheme. - Promotion I want to improve on the publicity involving events organised by societies and volunteering projects: you all work hard to do something that you enjoy and others should be allowed to appreciate all your efforts. - Availability I firmly believe that the Student’s Union exists to serve the students and to promote this, I would dedicate a portion of the week to welcome anyone who has questions that they would like to ask in person, without booking a meeting. - Networks A new concept that was introduced this year was the networks between societies of similar nature. I aim to improve upon these networks by organising meetings between those involved and encouraging cross-society events.

VP Societies and Volunteering
Muhammad Firdaus Muhammad Amdani | Make It Muhammad
You are choosing your VP Societies & Volunteering and I know you want the best candidate for both halves of this role. So do I. After almost 8 months on the job, I can tell you this: The role is not about who you are, it is about what you can do for your students. It is less talking, more listening; less self, more service. Last year, I ran on the platform of personal qualities, not policies. Good policy comes from good principles, and you chose me for my Honesty, Diplomacy, Skill and Experience. With your help, I have spent my term building networks between societies and volunteering projects, laying the foundations for a more collaborative future. I ask your permission to allow me to build upon this work for a second term. In addition to the original four qualities, here are my commitments to you, which have already begun to see success: - I will continue supporting and promoting Volunteering. Our volunteers touch lives, and deserve a Sabb who will empower them. - I will continue pushing for Sustainability in all aspects of Societies & Volunteering - environmental, financial, cultural and social. - I will continue improving communications and networking between societies / volunteering projects to help you get your message out there, collaborate, and succeed on your own terms. - I will continue supporting internationalism alongside the Welsh language and culture, which has been so welcoming to me as an international student. - I will be your inside Sabb. The biggest danger in this role is ego - but I’ve already been there, done that, got the sergeant’s chevrons. I am here to represent you, I will continue to listen to you, and I will fight for you. I know how it feels to be forgotten - I will not forget you! The year ahead will be a challenging one for us. You deserve somebody tried and tested, who can see what’s coming and hit the ground running from the very beginning. We have achieved amazing things this year - let’s make the next year even better!
RHIANNON WILLIAMS VP SOCS & VOL WHY ME? Undeb Bangor (UB) has been integral to my university career. I have chaired the Herpetological Society for 3 years and have cooperated with the UB team to create big events, including international conferences. Keen to facilitate other societies, I joined the Societies Executive. Over the last 2 years, I have promoted societies’ and UB campaigns, and encouraged collaboration between societies via network meetings. I helped organise Socs Fest, to create a national platform to promote the fantastic work UB societies do. I am a member of Undeb Bangor Council, representing the work of Socs Exec and implementing the ideas you, as the student body, have put forward. I was a course rep for two years and a Welsh language student ambassador for Coleg Cymraeg. In those roles I represented the needs of a diverse array of students and understood the value and power of the student voice. Volunteering is an important part of my life. I am Chair of NW Wales Amphibian and Reptile Group, and have been a conservation volunteer for 8 years. I would bring to this role this long experience of effective volunteering and vast organisational experience, from my work with Herp Soc and arranging international conferences. I am keen to apply learning from the volunteering team, and to develop the VP role to fully represent the student body in challenging times for the University. I am excited about the opportunity to represent you and your needs, and confident that I am the right person to do so!
AS VP I WOULD: 1) PROMOTE SOCIETIES’
AND VOLUNTEERING CAMPAIGNS, PROJECTS AND EVENTS.
2) PROMOTE AND
FACILITATE COLLABORATIVE WORKING TO CREATE BIG AND DIFFERENT EVENTS.
3)
REPRESENT THE NEEDS AND OPINIONS OF SOCIETIES AND VOLUNTEERING FROM UNIVERSITY LEVEL TO NATIONAL CONFERENCES.
4)
BE TRANSPARENT IN MY ACTIONS AND BE OPEN AND FLEXIBLE IN RESPONSE TO CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM AND FEEDBACK.
5) CHAMPION DIVERSITY, OFFERING A PLATFORM FOR THE UNIQUE CHALLENGES MANY STUDENTS FACE.
6) BE ACCESSIBLE AND
EASILY CONTACTABLE, THROUGH MEDIA COMMUNICATION, REGULAR DROP-IN SESSIONS AND AN OPEN-DOOR POLICY.

· Keep a close eye on the University’s financial affairs and ensure that the Welsh language or the needs of UMCB students are not punished in further cuts. · Promote further use of the Welsh language during the Welcome Week. · Continue to support all of UMCB’s societies and sports teams with the intention of assisting in any way possible. · I would promote more volunteering and money raising opportunities locally. · Search for further developments to the way UMCB is marketed using additional videos such as Teledu UMCB and UMCB Radio. · A significant project that I wish to establish is commissioning a book on the History of UMCB which could be launched by our 50th anniversary in 2026.

Vote PAIGE for VP of Education! Open a New Paige For Bangor University! About Me: I am a third year student in the School of History, Philosophy and Social Sciences majoring in Medieval and Early Modern History. In my second year I was elected a course representative, where we won the Dragon’s Den funding for our project to construct a resource library in Main Arts, putting 2,000 books in storage to use. For this project I was shortlisted for the Ede and Ravenscroft Innovation Award. This year I have been elected as Senior Course Rep as well as International Student Councilor for UBC. I am also co-running a university trip to Southern Italy. Why I want to be VP: Bangor has offered me many opportunities. I want to give all students the opportunities to do anything they want to achieve. I want to bridge the gap between the SU and the students. Most importantly, I want to make your experience at Bangor University the best it can possibly be. What I will achieve: Diversify the academic curriculum. The teachings of minorities frequently are left out of school’s modules. I will educate the them on these groups and encourage them to include them in their curriculum. Degree-specific job fairs across the university that will cater more specifically to students individual studies as opposed to generic job fairs. Mental health services. As well as continuing the SU’s Big White Wall, I will organize professionally run seminars to educate students on how to better help their peers. Educating students as to how they can support their fellow students will improve the mental well-being of the student population. As VP of Education I know that we will achieve great things. My first priority as VP of Education is the students and I encourage you to give me the opportunity to prove it to you.

I am a Campus Life Coordinator and I've been the President of the Biological Society for the past two years. I also led the Plastic Free Bangor campaign across the city which has gained national interest and was discussed in Parliament.

- Increase job opportunities by working with learned societies such as the Royal Society of Biology/ British Psychology Society as well as the University to offer a number of career enhancing skills and jobs. - Panopto is meant to be used in every available lecture. It's not. This has been a recurring issue and still hasn't been solved. I will campaign to make sure Panopto is used in every possible lecture. - More kitchen facilities around campus such as microwaves, water fountains and food bins to promote healthy living and sustainability. - Continuing my work with Plastic Free Bangor I will campaign to further reduce the amount of plastic used around the University. I'll also work with the Sustainability Lab and the local community to reduce waste and tackle Bangor's litter problem.
