Undeb Bangor Sabbatical Officer Elections Guide Introduction It’s great you’re interested in becoming a Sabbatical Officer. This guide will tell you everything you need to know about what you need to do to run to be a Sabbatical Officer, as well as all of the rules and regulations governing the Undeb Bangor Sabbatical Officer Election process. What is a Sabbatical Officer? In brief Undeb Bangor Sabbatical Officers are elected by the student body to lead Undeb Bangor (Bangor Students’ Union). They decide the direction and priorities of Undeb Bangor and represent the student body. They work on projects and initiatives throughout the year to make sure the student experience here at Bangor is the best it can be. As representatives of the student body they also make sure that the Students’ Union and its work is relevant to students whilst working directly with the University to ensure students’ interests are taken into account. The sabbatical Officers are made up of four cross campus officers and one Welsh Union Officer. The CrossCampus Officers shall be elected by secret ballot by the Student Members at an election to be held in accordance with the Bye-Laws. The Welsh Union Officer shall be elected by the Welsh Union at an election to be held in accordance with the Bye-Laws. Full role descriptions of each Sabbatical Officer position can be found at www.undebbangor.com/elections Who can become an Undeb Bangor Sabbatical Officer? Any student has the opportunity to become a cross campus sabbatical officer in line with the Bye-Laws. Only student members of UMCB (The Welsh Union) have the right to vote and stand for the position of Welsh Union Officer. Aside from that, all you need to do is care about making positive changes for students, nominate yourself online within the nomination period and then get students to vote for you when the time comes. We provide a full and comprehensive training programme for all those elected and no previous experience is needed. The only things you will need to do to be successful in any of the roles above is supply ideas, be creative, bring energy and show enthusiasm. We also have a full staff team who work to support and develop the Sabbatical officer Team.
