Recent developments in the Poverty/Energy/Vulnerability nexus in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan

Abstract: This paper focuses on three sets of recent (2009-2011) developments concerning the poverty/energy/vulnerability nexus in Central Asia: (1) trends in household energy and water security in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, as reflected in official data; (2) recent research on this topic; and (3) the causes and implications of the April 2010 events in Kyrgyzstan, in terms of links to the energy sector.
