“ This is going to be the greatest chal-
lenge of my coaching career... I’ve never faced a challenge where you design a team, you build a team, you recruit a team, and then, all of a sudden, the guts are taking out of it.
”
— Rick Majerus, head coach, Saint Louis Billikens
Head coach Rick Majerus has been seeing consistent production from his freshman such as Mike McCall, Rob Loe, Dwayne Evans and Jordair Jett. The significant contributions from the young players have helped the Billikens remain competitive despite losing last year’s top three scorers.
Freshmen step into the spotlight Head coach Rick Majerus likes to say that last year the Billikens were the youngest team in the nation, and this year they are one of the youngest. There’s no denying that youth and inexperience has been the Achille’s heel for this year’s squad. But SLU fans are also getting a crash course in the faces of the future. Mike McCall is tied with Kyle Cassity for most points scored per game; Dwayne Evans is leading the team in rebounds; Jordair Jett leads the team in steals; and Rob Loe has collected the third-most offensive boards this season. While this year has had it’s growing pains, there is no denying the future is bright for the Baby Bills.

Chris Braswell, Sophomore Charlotte, F Braswell has continued to improve his post skills after being named to the A-10 all-rookie squad last season. He chips in 10.8 points per game and leads the team in rebounding at 7.1 per game.
“Coach [Porter] Moser says the characteristic of a good team is when you have them down, you step on them and throttle them.
