Next Steps South West is part of the National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP) that aims to encourage more young people into higher education (HE). It brings together universities and further education colleges into local networks to provide coordinated outreach to schools and colleges. The Next Steps South West consists of Plymouth University, Plymouth College of Art, The University of St Mark and St John, City College Plymouth, South Devon College, Petroc College, Exeter University and Exeter College. It acts as a single point of contact for students, parents and teachers to find out about outreach activities which universities and colleges host in their area, and provides general advice about progression into Higher Education. The Devon Outreach Network website is packed with information about outreach activity and resources that equip young people with the knowledge they need to make informed choices about their future. It has numerous signposts and links to information that supports teachers, parents and students as they prepare for Higher Education and employment. devonoutreachnetwork.co.uk careerpilot.org.uk
Highlighting Student Research & Academic Scholarship
Welcome to fourth annual South Devon Research Showcase, which will be held from the 2nd – 5th May 2017. The showcase is designed to provide an opportunity for final year degree students to share their research through posters and presentations that have been conducted over the past academic year. In addition there will also be presentations from academic staff on their professional development. This conference style event will create a feel for university study and hopefully inspire Level 3 students to carry on with their journey through education and the range of courses available to them. This event provides the opportunity for prospective students, businesses and societies to celebrate the research being undertaken across all programmes. The schedule for the event is as followed:
