Christopher Evans Jewellery Lighting
Twin Peaks lighting technology has been developed specifically for illuminating Jewellery. Traditionally, gold & silver cannot be placed within the same display cabinet without one of them losing shine and looking dull. However, Twin Peaks is a specifically designed luminaire, which mixes Warm (which highlights gold) and Cool (which highlights silver) colour LED light, allowing both gold & silver to be displayed next to each other within one cabinet whilst still looking their best.
Morrisons Shelf Lighting
Velorum LED Shelf Lighting is retro-fitted into existing lighting systems. This gives Supermarkets and other Retailers the chance to reduce energy costs up to 70%, without having to purchase any new shelving units. Featuring bespoke LED coloured illumination, as well as virtually eradicating maintenance costs, installing Velorum is the easiest way to make a big change. By the end of 2012, nearly 15,000 luminaires will be in place within Morrisons ‘Your Home’ sections of stores.

Tom Dixon Display Lighting
Portobello Dock, London. Tom Dixon’s only retail shop in the world. Set the task of complimenting the iconic British designer’s legendary pieces, Lumenal provided LED lighting which highlighted every product, from furniture to candle holders. This included shelf lighting, which was incorporated into Aluminium shelving, and Sirius lightbars which were specially adapted to hang from the ceiling.
Capella LED luminaires were the perfect fit for Tom Dixon. Made to bespoke lengths, they provided light across the whole width of a shelf without any products suffering from poor illumination.
Sirius lightbars were then installed as ceiling hung luminaires, which allowed Tom to direct light towards certain displays & products, without having to install anything within their immediate vicinity.
Carphone Warehouse Retail Lighting
Lumenal & sister company Unibox have created a unique retail environment for Carphone Warehouse. Bespoke acrylic panels were laser etched in-house, to ensure a bright, even beam spread was achieved with Lupi LED tape. These were then mounted behind bespoke Unibox Aluminium Slatwall panels, so that phones & accessories can change position without having to replace any display panels. 1,635 edge-lit panels were installed alongside 3,034 linear LED luminaires.

Scabetti Track Lighting
Orion Track lighting was utilised to create stunning displays within Hilton Mayfair and a new apartment block in Central London. Within the Hilton, standard Orion Tracklight was fitted to the existing frame. However, to cater for the circular frame inside the apartment blocks, Orion was adapted to include bespoke wiring, which was then retrofitted into the existing tubular framework.

Back-lit Shelf Lighting Designed to ensure all of your products are illuminated, this gondola features a retro-fitted LED backlit panel. This utilises Lupi LED tape, and a bespoke acrylic panel which diffuses light to provide an even spread of light across the whole display.

We only use high quality LED diodes manufactured by market leading suppliers. At the heart of all LED light fixtures are the light emitting diodes and the control circuits that they operate with. By applying careful thermal management and diode selection we can control colour & flux binning, colour & flux shift and lumen maintenance.
Our Process... Of providing you with the perfect luminaire
Selecting the right luminaire isn’t as easy as picking the best LED light. Other factors play a pivotal role in the creation of your luminaire, and rather than looking at all of these factors seperately, Lumenal make sure all the different features of your luminaire work in conjunction to ensure maximum life expectancy, and consistent light/colour output.
Luminaires consist of Light-Emitting Diodes, Printed Circuit Boards, drive electronics and dedicated thermal management. All of our LEDs are sourced from the best manufacturers, to ensure we provide consistently high quality luminaires. Typically we source our LEDs from Cree, Seoul Semiconductor and Phillips.
And to optimise their life expectancy, we create bespoke aluminium profiles which manage the heat generated thanks to increased surface areas to conduct heat backwards, away from the LEDs.
The Power of LED And why they’re different to traditional lighting

Why LED lights are different from normal household bulbs When installing lights into places like the home, people generally refer to Wattage in relation to light output. And whilst this may be relevant to standard halogen bulbs, LED light output is measured in a slightly different way. Why wattage has no relevance to the light output of an LED Wattage more commonly refers to how much power is running through the light source, which therefore determines how efficient the light is. This is something we control extremely tightly, so that the power running through does not affect the lifespan, colour or operating temperature of the LED. How do you respresent LED light output? LED light output is measured in terms of Lumens per watt. As most of our light systems are bespoke, these figures vary depending on our clients specification. However, to demonstrate our luminaires versatility, between 55-90 lumens/ Watt are generally provided, meaning we can tailor LED’s to be extremely energy efficient, or high powered providing maximum output.
LED Colour Of providing you with the perfect luminaire
This is a main part in the selection of which LED is right for you. Correlated Colour Temperature (CCT) is vital to effective merchandising leading to increased sales. CCT describes the relative colour appearance of a white light source, indicating whether it appears more yellow/gold or blue.
In terms of the range of available shades of white Lumenal can supply LED’s from 2700K (warm white) all the way to 7000K (cool white). Our standard colour temperatures are 3000K, 4000K and 5000K
The colour you choose is vital, and mainly depends on which type of product you are selling. For example, if you are a jewellery retailer selling gold, you would choose a ‘Warm’ colour temperature, so that the light was as yellow as possible, to compliment the gold. However, if you are selling frozen food, you would want a ‘Cool’ temperature so that the fridge cabinet looks as blue as possible.
Optics Distorting LED light for a variety of purposes
Optics shape LED light for a variety of purposes. These range from spot lighting (narrowly focusses the light onto one, or few objects), to wall washing (to fill a whole wall with an even spread of light, perfect to attract attention to several objects). Optics are mounted directly over the LED, so that all light being emitted is captured and distributed via the path the optic takes.
Flux Binning Minimising Light Output variation
The process of producing LEDs inherently creates variations in the amount of luminous flux produced. This leads manufacturers to seperate their diodes into luminous flux bins, where clients can then specify which bin they will purchase from.
These variations in luminous flux can mean that one LED along a PCB with 6-10 LEDs placed, could appear brighter/duller, meaning that the light output is inconsistent and anyone looking at the light may think that the light source is of poor quality. This is why we explicitly specify a single luminous flux bin throughout a project to ensure long-term consistency
Colour Binning Minimising Colour variation
During production LEDS’s vary in colour, luminous flux and forward voltage. LED manufacturers separate LED’s out into “bins” of the same colour temperature.
By only using LED chips from reputable manufacturers and from suppliers who can guarantee that we can select LED’s from a closely tolaranced colour bin and can deliver that particular bin consistently we can ensure that your displays will always have the same appearance.
Thermal Management Custom profiles manufactured in-house
Designing our own Aluminium Profiles with integrated heat sinks are based on using fins. These increase the surface area and help draw the heat away from the PCB onto which the LED’s are mounted.
We use a high quality thermal transfer paste to ensure a smoother and more even contact between our PCB and our Aluminium profile heat sink.
This increases the thermal conductivity of the PCB and heat sink by filling microscopic air-gaps present due to the imperfectly flat and smooth surfaces of the components. This helps transfer heat as the compound has far greater thermal conductivity than air.
