The Walk Along Trust small steps, BIG difference
The Walk Along Trust
Information Brochure
Who we are No matter how unpromising the situation might be, it always brings with it the opportunity to conquer the setbacks and gain something worthy out of it. Walk Along is a Trust with the goal to support development in order to eradicate poverty, inspired by the message 'small steps make big differences'. With incessant hard work and selfless effort, Walk Along provides the platform for every individual, rich or poor, young or old, to march hand in hand, in the journey of spreading peace and serenity all over. With the core philosophy, 'a dream to transform hopes to reality', Walk Along steps ahead to help the lives of rural families and aims to secure their future. We appeal to each and every individual to come forward and join the chain in supporting and working towards a better standard of living for the people who just manage to scrape by a living. The Walk Along dictum remains unfulfilled, without the rich to help the poor and literates to educate the illiterates. The trust looks forward to energize every soul with the mantra of 'Karma' and 'positive thinking'. Walk Along believes that “Sharing Is Caring and walks ahead to create an ocean of love and prosperity for one and all. 'Individually we are drops, together we are an ocean'.
What we do We bring smiles to those faces which many a times get prematurely wrinkled, struggling to survive on shaky grounds just to make ends meet for themselves and their loved ones. We have adopted a three fold strategy, to achieve inclusive growth for the impoverished, under the following heads: Education Health Employment Generation Apart from these we also involve people from various walks of life to uplift the society through various projects carried out under the banner of individual social responsibility.
Collaboration in Germany The support from abroad comes not only through donations but also through different projects. One such project is the partnership between Walk Along and two German Schools in Nussloch near Frankfurt. With the idea of 'children help children' ,the pupils from Germany now learn about India as part of their curriculum and help raising funds for the Indian schools by selling home baked cakes. The German schools provide school material for Indian children and help in creating a course-outline to teach English at the adopted schools in India in a structured and efficient way.
Encouraging Individual social responsibility The volunteers who support Walk Along, come from various age groups, even as our main focus rests on the youth, as they are the nation's future leaders. As future leaders they should develop a passion for morale justice and equality in the world. By involving students, who rarely have prior work experience, we motivate them to understand their individual social responsibility. We also insist the institutions associated with us to include this subject matter as part a of their curriculum so that every student gets an exposure to a different aspect of life and develop a holistically responsible attitude towards their surrounding. In the student involvement program, we build committees in colleges and universities. The committee consists of students of all batches and a Senior Advisory Club, who are working together in order to provide support to the nearby villages. The Senior Advisory Club consists of faculty members of the colleges, who help and advise students with their wisdom and knowledge in many different areas. Our volunteers appreciate the privilege they have had to be able to pursue their studies, and feel the urge to give something back to the society. The best way for them to do so is by looking beyond the urban streets into the villages located around their college and help the people, who are not privileged enough.
Projects Undertaken Within this short span of four months, we are successfully being able to reach the hearts of people in Bangalore and even have adopted one village in Annekal taluk , Chikahagre. Why Cartridges and electronic waste ? Obsolete ewaste are a valuable source for secondary raw materials, if treated properly. More than 3 Quarts of oil is used to produce each laser cartridge. The plastic used in each printer cartridge takes more than 10 centuries to decompose.
Why Recycling ?
