More than a degree
It’s a competitive world out there; that’s why we offer a wide range of events and activities to enable you to develop key skills and experiences that will help you to stand out from the crowd and differentiate you from other graduates.
Meet like-minded people
Whether you are passionate about sport, or are looking to meet like-minded people, we have a wide range of faith, academic and recreational societies as well as over 40 sports teams competing in the British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS) leagues. Don't forget if you have an interest that's currently not covered by one of our societies you can always start your own! Talk to Beds SU to find out how.
Hear from industry professionals
With regular industry talks and masterclasses across all faculties, you’ll have the chance to hear from professionals working in your field, providing you with the opportunity to grow your industry network and ask any questions you may have.
Gain industry experience
Many of our courses offer you the opportunity to gain industry experience alongside your studies. Students from the School of Art & Design can gain experience at our in-house design studio, Guildford Street Press, whilst Law students can work with real clients on real cases with our Law Clinic or Refugee Legal Assistance Project, to name just a few.
Represent your University
Become a course or faculty representative and be the voice for fellow students on your course. You can also represent the University at our Open Days, and other events, by working as a Student Ambassador.
Take over the airwaves
If you have an interest in radio, or presenting and producing your own shows, then why not get involved in the University's very own radio station, Radio LaB. Broadcasting throughout Luton and Bedfordshire, Radio LaB is a community radio station which includes a mix of music shows, news, and light entertainment.
Competitions
We encourage you to take part in external competitions and live industry briefs to provide you with industry knowledge and experience, and to help differentiate you from other graduates. Many of our students have been recognised within their industry with students being nominated and winning awards from: Association for Project Management (APM); British Education Awards; Social Worker of the Year Awards; British Computing Society (BCS); and the Student Nursing Times Award.
