Alessandro Mauro-Manea
Business Studies (International) Sandwich Pathway BA (Hons)
“I chose to study a degree with a sandwich pathway because I feel it’s a very competitive world once you graduate university, so that extra touch of experience will help make you more employable. I did my placement at Britvic Soft Drinks, a FTSE 250 organisation. As part of my placement I worked within the tax team, as a Tax Analyst. Before my placement I didn’t have a lot of experience, so it was a great opportunity to help me grow. I found the placement through the Careers Service within the University. They helped me throughout my entire application and placement experience, from creating a CV, to having mock interviews with a careers adviser, to helping me make initial contact with my line manager. I felt very supported. It was a really good experience because I had the opportunity to meet a lot of people, and had the chance to grow and develop myself into being a more studious and eager individual, keen to enter the industry and make a change in the world.”
Volunteering
The University of Bedfordshire is committed to contributing to the development of civic and public life through involving students, staff, and external audiences in volunteering programmes. We offer a range of ways for students to get involved in volunteering, from one-off events to regular and long-term commitments. We have opportunities with community organisations as well as volunteering roles on site with the University and the Students’ Union.
Embedded employability
Studying with us will give you the chance to take twelve credit bearing units based around the theme of employability that will enhance your career prospects, develop transferable skills, and earn you extra credits in the process. Lasting between five and six weeks, the units aim to increase your knowledge and understanding of key skills that employers are searching for, helping you to stand apart from other graduates. You could also work for the University as one of our Student Ambassadors, where you’ll have the opportunity to help at our Open Days, lead campus tours, and assist at other University events. These will help you develop your leadership and enhance your presentation skills and make you a more employable individual upon graduation.

Many of our courses are accredited by professional bodies, which gives you a career advantage from day one. Just a few of the professional bodies that accredit our degrees include: Association of Certified Chartered Accountants, British Computer Society, the Institution of Engineering and Technology, British Council, British Psychological Society, Chartered Institute of Marketing, Chartered Management Institute, General Social Care Council, Institute of Biomedical Science, Joint Negotiating Committee, National Association of Licensed Paralegals, Association for Nutrition, Register of Exercise Professionals and the Broadcast Journalism Training Council. Sahaid Snowdon
Psychology with Counselling & Therapies BSc (Hons)
“A major benefit for me is that my course is BPS accredited – for me that’s really important. A British Psychological Society accredited course means that I can carry on with my studies and eventually become a clinical psychologist if I follow the right steps.”
