Communication Skills We know how important it is for students, both during their time at University and in their career afterwards, to continually develop and enhance their intercultural communication skills. We want our students to get the most out of their time with us, which is why, in addition to the above, the University has created a core programme of English language communication skills, which College of North Atlantic students can attend free of charge.
Go Global Scheme Here at the University of Bedfordshire we pride ourselves on our commitment to the globalisation of our students. Go Global has been designed to take home students to destinations such as China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, the USA and India to give them an insight into how the developing world operates. We take our international students to European countries such as France, Belgium, Holland and Germany to give them an exposure to the European power houses so that they can see how these countries have developed and work together in the Euro zone. Our Go Global and Go Europe programmes are unique, and heavily subsidised by the University. These are embedded in our vision to give our students the opportunity not only to gain a great degree, but also to gain the experience and skills needed to gain high quality employment in the Global market place.
In addition to enhancing your CV, the scheme also builds your global network of friends and gives you a taste of life in another country. These trips are designed to give you a blend of business and culture with some tourism. When combined with your degree this should help you to understand the real world we live in and give you an edge when you look for employment after graduation. Read more about it here.
Internship Scheme The University offers a limited number of paid internships worth up to ÂŁ500. Apply before starting your course to be considered for a place on the scheme (subject to availability).
Extra-curricular Activities Whilst at the University of Bedfordshire, we want students to make the most of their time here and encourage them to participate in the numerous activities that are on offer, so that the overall experience here is cultural as well as academic.
Student Mobility Trip to Europe In previous years we have organised extended trips to cities in Europe, including Paris, Switzerland, Amsterdam and Barcelona. For ICB students the University of Bedfordshire will pay 65% of the cost of a trip to Europe during their period of study with us. The opportunity to explore another culture within Europe is an experience not to be missed.
Social Events Every year we run a fantastic social events programme that includes visits to many famous sights and locations. The programme will take you all over the UK to give you a real taste of local and national heritage. Last year we visited Cambridge, Oxford, London, Bath, Bournemouth beach and for the shopping lovers – Bicester Village, Oxfordshire and Westfield Shopping Centre, London. There are weekend trips and visits during term-time and most of them will cost just £5. The University will cover the rest of the cost.
