CONNECTED Our main campuses in Luton and Bedford have buzzing town centres and provide a great student lifestyle. What’s more, the cost of living is considerably cheaper than London.

1. L ondon on our doorstep The UK’s most exciting city is only a 30 minute train journey from Luton, 40 minutes from Bedford and Milton Keynes and one hour from Aylesbury. The lower cost of living in Bedfordshire means you can treat yourself to the best of what the capital has to offer including world-class attractions, entertainment, festivals, museums and more.

2. Luton

3. Bedford

Luton is Bedfordshire’s largest town and is packed full of cultural diversity. A short walk from campus brings you to the town centre with ample bars and restaurants available, and if culture is more your style, Luton has everything from a cinema complex to carnivals to entertain you.

Bedford is an idyllic, riverside town with a lively mix of traditional town pubs, bars and restaurants, modern nightclubs, shops and heritage in addition to first-class sports facilities. Bedford is excellently positioned; surrounded east and west by the historic cities of Oxford and Cambridge.

HOW TO APPLY

25

To ensure your application process runs smoothly we have put together this simple, step-by-step guide to help you. 1. C hoose your University and course March – November 2019 Do as much research as possible – search for courses on UCAS, send off for prospectuses, check online, look at course entry requirements and attend Higher Education Fairs and Open Days. For a list of our upcoming Open Days see page 5 or visit: unibeds.info/UG_OpenDays

2. Apply online through UCAS September 2019 onwards Done your research? Ready to complete your application form? Then go to www.ucas.com and choose up to five universities. If you need any assistance completing your application form visit: unibeds.info/CompletingYourApplication

3. Receive your decisions January 2020 onwards You may receive Unconditional offers if you have already met the criteria for your chosen course, or Conditional offers (on the condition that you meet the criteria required) from the universities that you have applied to. The earlier you send in your applications, the more likely it is that you will receive your decisions earlier.

4. Sort out your finances March 2020 onwards There is a lot of financial support available so don’t delay making your application at: www.gov.uk/student-finance. For information on the generous financial support we offer at Bedfordshire see page 26 or visit: unibeds.info/ FeesandFunding

5. Choose your final two universities April – June 2020 Now it’s time to make a Firm and Insurance choice – your firm choice should be the institution where you want to go, and your insurance choice is your second choice, in case you do not meet the requirements set by your firm choice.

Exam results July – August 2020 Time to receive your exam results to see if your place has been confirmed by your firm choice (if you have met all the conditions set by this choice), or insurance choice, via UCAS Track online. If you haven’t met all of the conditions of your firm or insurance choice, don’t worry as there are other options available through Clearing. Call our Admissions team for advice on: +44 (0)300 3300 073.

8. Arriving at university September 2020 Once you have secured your place, you can begin planning for the exciting, new, life-changing experience of starting university. You’ll need to consider finance and accommodation if you haven’t done so already, plus aspects such as travel, books, bedding, and most importantly your induction and registration dates. Universities should send you all of this information as soon as your place has been confirmed.
