LOCATION

Milton Keynes (MK) is a lively and exciting place to live – whatever you like doing! Leisure Milton Keynes is a great place to shop, with over 400 well known stores in the city centre, as well as boutique village shops and farmers’ markets, just outside the city centre.

Countryside Milton Keynes is described as the “city in the country”, a purpose-built environment where trees count for as much as concrete. MK boasts over 4,500 acres of parkland, rivers, lakes and woodland.

With award-winning galleries and theatres, MK has a thriving cultural scene. And with the fastest-growing “after 6pm” culture outside London, you’ll find every type of food, drink and entertainment experience you could want.

Places to visit nearby Why not visit Woburn Safari Park and Whipsnade Zoo, or, for speed and excitement, go to Silverstone Racing Circuit or the Santa Pod Raceway?

Sport and Activities You can experience loads of sports and activities – from indoor skiing on real snow to indoor sky-diving, sailing, windsurfing and water sports. However, if you prefer to watch, there are local football and rugby teams and MK is home to the national centre for badminton.

Visit the Roald Dahl Museum or take the Harry Potter Studio Tour, and, if shopping is more your style, there’s Bicester Village, home to designer collections with big discounts!

Better placed... “MK is a great place to live. It’s a lively, place and offers a lovely environment. There are wonderful parks and lakes where you can do lots of water sports. There are plenty of attractions in the city centre itself – a theatre, cinemas, restaurants, shops, sport. Milton Keynes is the largest conurbation in the South East, outside London, so there are hundreds of reasons to come here.” Professor Ben Allen, Department of Computer Science & Technology

There’s also a great network of cycle paths and, as the area isn’t too hilly, it’s easy to get around on foot.

There’s beautiful countryside in the Chilterns and Cotswolds – enjoy a long country walk, or visit a stately home. Stratford upon Avon, Oxford and Cambridge are also within easy reach, and London is just a short rail journey away.

How to apply

How to apply

At the University of Bedfordshire we want to ensure that your application process is as simple and efficient as possible. Depending on whether you are applying for a foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate course, the process may differ slightly:

Foundation and undergraduate courses Applying online For all full-time higher education courses at universities and colleges in the UK, students must apply online at: www.ucas.com. There are two types of applicant: students at a school or college registered with UCAS, and independent applicants.

I 34

School and college applicants All UK schools and colleges (plus a small number of overseas establishments) are registered with UCAS, which manages student applications. • If you are a student at a school or college, you will need to fill in an online application and submit it to your teacher or careers adviser, who can offer advice about the form and your choices • After checking your details and adding the academic reference, your school or college will submit the application online to UCAS • Payment to UCAS must be made online by credit or debit card – your school or college will advise you on how and when to do this

Independent applicants Applicants who are not at a school or college in the UK can apply online independently through UCAS. Do bear in mind that you are responsible for paying the correct fee, nominating a suitable referee and submitting the application online to UCAS. When you have provided the contact details of a referee, UCAS will send a request via email to the referee asking them to complete and submit a reference through the UCAS website. References provided by applicants to UCAS will not be accepted.
