Student Computer Resource Centre UOW’s Information Technology Services (ITS) provides training, user-guides and the student computer resources, including nine central student computer laboratories, and additional teaching laboratories. Students can access email, internet, software and printers. Woolyungah Indigenous Centre The centre provides for equity access, participation and outcomes for UOW Indigenous students and encourages links with the local Aboriginal community. Foundation Studies Who is it for? Foundation Studies* is a university preparation course for students who have not completed secondary schooling or who have not met the direct entry requirements for a UOW Bachelor Degree. This course is an accredited alternative to the Australian Year 12. *The Foundation Studies program is specifically designed for international students. The program is also suitable for Australian students who have not met direct entry requirements for a UOW Bachelor Degree. Foundation Studies meets the requirements for Foundations Programs. It is registered under the University of Wollongong’s CRICOS code and is delivered on behalf of the University by UOW College.
What does it offer? Foundation Studies enables you to reach the level of study required to succeed in university. Successful completion of the program will enable you to enter the first year of your chosen Bachelor Degree at UOW.
What do I study? The Foundation Studies program offers five streams of study: Arts, Commerce, Maths/IT, Science and Engineering. You will be offered the stream most relevant to your chosen degree. The course is studied over 2 or 3 sessions (Extended). Successful applicants will be notified of the duration of their Foundation Studies program at the time of offer. This will be based on previous academic and English results. In the Extended Foundation Studies course (3 session), students complete a common first semester consisting of Academic Skills English, Academic Skills Mathematics, Environmental Science, and People and Society. Subjects from the relevant stream are then undertaken in the second and third sessions. The first session results are not counted towards the overall WAM for the course, allowing students to gradually develop the skills that will enable them to succeed in their second and third session at UOW College. This course is delivered on behalf of the University of Wollongong by UOW College.

FEES & FEE-HELP How can I pay for my course?
Payment Options Defer Your Fees
Students studying Diplomas, Foundation Studies or the UAP have the option to defer the total cost of the course using FEE-HELP
Pay in Installment
Students are able to pay their tuition fee in instalments via credit card. The instalments consist of three equal payments per session.
Upfront Payment
Students can choose to pay their fees upfront prior to the commencement of the course by cash, Money Order, Visa or MasterCard. The date payment is required will be stated in the offer letter.
Commonwealth Supported Place
Students studying STEP to UOW will have tuition covered by a Commonwealth Supported Place. Commonwealth Supported Places are awarded on the basis of equity criteria including but not limited to: low income, living in a rural or isolated area, Indigenous Australians, women studying in non-traditional areas, recent migrant and permanent disability. What is FEE-HELP? FEE-HELP is an Australian Government loan scheme designed to assist eligible students in paying part or all of their tuition fees for courses at approved institutions. Australian citizens and holders of humanitarian permanent resident visas are eligible to apply for FEE-HELP. FEE-HELP can be used with any UOW College Foundation, Diploma and UAP program. *Please note extra fees apply.
How do I request FEE-HELP? To request FEE-HELP you need to advise us you will apply for FEE-HELP on your acceptance of offer into your chosen course. You do not need to request FEE-HELP prior to enrolment. College staff will assist you to apply for FEE-HELP at Orientation. To apply for FEE-HELP you will need an Australian Tax File Number (TFN) from the Australian Taxation Office. There is no application charge for FEE-HELP. Students accessing FEE-HELP for Diploma courses will be charged a Government loan fee.
How much can I borrow? Students can borrow up to the amount of the tuition fees charged for their course. For further details visit the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations website: www.goingtouni.gov.au
How do I pay it back? Your FEE-HELP debt is repaid via the Australian Tax Office once your income reaches the threshold for compulsory payment. For more info visit the ATO website: www.ato.gov.au
Are there any other costs I need to know about? You will need to cover your own accommodation and living expenses. Textbook costs and other study related costs are also payable by the student.
