MEMBER OF THE MONTH Frye Funeral Home, Inc

The Frye Funeral Home, Inc. has been familyowned and operated since 1917. They are known throughout the area for their compassionate commitment to all the families they serve. Over the last century, they have helped thousands of families plan and carry out celebrations of the lives of their loved ones.

At the age of 26, L.M. Frye, Sr. established the business as a small storefront in town, and since then passed down to his son, L.M. Frye, Jr., then to his son, Patrick Frye, and finally Pamela F. DeRose purchased the funeral home in 2007 after working with the Frye family for over 20 years.

Pam has been a director at Frye Funeral Home for over 35 years. Her daughter, Olivia DeRose Behanna, works alongside her and will be a licensed funeral director this month! Completing their team is Kevin Behanna and Aaron Benney who assist in everyday operations and are crucial to the business. They are proud members of the Monongahela Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Southwestern PA Funeral Directors Association, the Pennsylvania State Funeral Directors Association, the National Federation of Independent Businesses, and the Monongahela Area Historical Society.

Belle Vernon Rotary Celebrates 90th Anniversary

The Belle Vernon Rotary club recently celebrated 90 years of global and local service at the Club House Grille at Cedarbrook Golf Course where they hold their weekly meetings every Thursday. Special guest was former club member, Phil Morrow, who is a Paul Harris Fellow and Honorary Member of the club. Members individually reminisced on video their Rotary journey over the years.

Thirty-eight members now serve the Belle Vernon and Perryopolis area, and the club has a rich legacy of meeting community needs over the past ninety years. The club was chartered February 1933 with Norman L. Niece serving as the first president. After challenges presented to the organization during Covid, the club recently renewed the traditional annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Festival and is busy planning its Regatta on the Yough event on August 27.
