Sonora residents will pay slightly more for trash collection through Waste Management starting in September. The Sonora City Council on Monday approved a 2.48 percent rate increase, though it's not like they had any other choice. The city's 10-year contract through 2020 with Cal Sierra Disposal, a Waste Management s u b sidiary, grants the annual increase based on the Consumer Price Index. "It'spart of the contract," said Councilman George Segarini. '%'e gotta do what we gotta do." The council voted 3-0 to pass a resolution authorizing the increase, with council members Bill Canning and Connie Williams absent. Effective Sept. 1, typical residential subscribers with a 35-gallon cart will see their rate increase by 58 cents from $23.36 to $23.94 per month. Waste Management Dis-
