5. Preprint Packaging and Delivery Deliveries are accepted Monday through Friday only.

The Union Democrat is closed Saturday and Sunday and major holidays.

Delivery times are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In no case will shipments be received outside of these times or on days we are closed.

The Union Democrat will not be responsible for preprints left unattended and not properly received.

Preprinted Inserts. Inserts are due for scheduling and delivery one week prior to insertion date.

Preprint Dimensions: Minimum 5"h x 7"w, maximum 11"h x 11.5"w. Preprints exceeding maximum dimensions require quarter folding.

Tabloid-size advertisement exceeding 8 inches in depth will be billed at full tabloid depth of 10.25 inches. The minimum size display advertisements are one column by two inches. All advertisements are required to be at least as many inches deep as columns wide unless larger than 30 inches.

Proofing. Advertisements may be faxed or emailed to check for accuracy. Please order your proof at the time the ad is placed.

Creative Services. Ad design and photographic services are available. Please contact a representative of the advertising department for details.

Tearsheets. Available upon request. Please order when placing your advertisement. More than two or replacement tearsheets are billed at $2.50 each. Electronic-tears are also available.

7. Special Publications Weekender. Award-winning entertainment and recreation section distributed each Thursday with The Union Democrat and free to hotels, motels, restaurants and other visitor points in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties. 11. Terms of Payment All rates listed on this rate card are net and billed as such.

All advertising billing is due and payable on or before the last business day of the month. A service charge of 1.5% per month (annual rate 18%) will be assessed on past-due balances. Cash in advance required on new accounts prior to credit approval, goingout-of-business advertising and political advertising.

12. General Rate Policy The Union Democrat reserves the right to revise all rates, conditions, terms and policies within this rate card at any time without notice.

Advertising space will not be sold by The Union Democrat for the purpose of resale.

2015 Advertising Rates

The Union Democrat reserves the right to edit, reject, revise, correct, classify or cancel any advertisement at any time.

The subject matter, form, size, wording and typography of all advertising are subject to the approval of the publisher.

Documents created in Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign.

If using Adobe Illustrator you must convert the type to outlines so no fonts are needed.

The advertiser assumes all liability for the content of all advertising and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the publisher from all claims, suits and related costs arising by reason of any advertising.

The Union Democrat reserves the right to include the word “advertisement” in an advertisement that, in the judgment of the publisher, might be mistaken as editorial material.

Every effort is made to avoid errors. In the event of an error, The Union Democrat will rectify an error (not the fault of the advertiser) by re-publication of the advertisement or portion of the advertisement in error. Claims for errors will be considered if made within 30 days following publication. The liability of The Union Democrat in regard to any advertisement is limited to the consideration paid for such advertising.

The Union Democrat will make every effort to meet requests for specific positioning at no additional charge. Position can be guaranteed at an additional 25% charge.

13. Electronic Ad Submission Ads submitted by e-mail must include the advertiser’s name, run date, contact person and phone number in the e-mail message.

All electronic ads must be submitted before regular deadlines (see item #8). An e-mail does not guarantee your ad will be scheduled.

The Union Democrat assumes no responsibility for typographical errors, missing art, bitmapped images or any form of error in your ad.

If you do not have the proper software or do not have the necessary computer skills to create the required digital files, talk with your sales representative and make other arrangements for your ad.

All files must be either grayscale, spot color or CMYK, no RGB color. If the ad is running black and white, do not send a color ad.

The following file formats are acceptable for reproduction in The Union Democrat: PDF files created using Adobe Acrobat Distiller only. When creating PDF files you must embed all fonts and images. We cannot accept pdfs made from Publisher, Pagemaker or any word processing program.

JPEG and TIFF images 100% of final size at 300 dpi minimum original resolution.

EPS images (include clipping paths when necessary).

The Union Democrat cannot use PC or True Type fonts.

FTP uploads: You must use Internet Explorer and have the appropriate ftp software.

15. Newspaper Readership The Union Democrat and The Foothill Shopper provide non-duplicated coverage in Tuolumne County and Southern Calaveras County. The Union Democrat reaches over 25,000 readers Tuesday through Saturday and combined with The Foothill Shopper on Wednesdays is delivered to more than 45,000 readers. The Foothill Shopper is home delivered by carrier and through third class mail. The Foothill Shopper can also be found at strategic locations within our delivery area.

16. Subscriptions Print edition $7 per month delivered, $7.50 per month for the combination of delivered print edition and E-edition, $7 per month for E-edition only and $156 per year by mail.
