ER students take part in Stock Market Game

BHS Human Anatomy & Physiology Class does sheep dissections Mrs. Meeks' fourth and fifth grade Operation Explore classes at Eagle Ridge participated in the 2014 spring online Georgia Stock Market Game sponsored by the Georgia Council on Economic Education. One fourth grade team consisting of Dalton Chambers, Grayson Mingledorff, Jaquan Moore and Tyrel Ray was declared the regional winner for the Baldwin County region. The team ended the game with a portfolio of $101,803.69. Playing the game gives students an opportunity to learn about the stock market and businesses and how they affect the economy.

The BHS Human Anatomy & Physiology science class explores the dynamics and make of the brain. Exploring the various parts of the brain truly sparked an interest in the seniors and junior during this unit of anatomy. Being able to complete the Brain and Neurological unit with the hands on brain dissection lab gives the students an opportunity to observe the inner layers and pieces of the brain versus just talking about the functions of the right and left hemispheres.

Mrs. Meeks and Mrs. Drew at Eagle Ridge Elementary held their annual Project H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Everywhere) Reveal. Students revealed how they had helped others this school year. These special moments were captured on a Powerpoint presentation. The top volunteers for the school year each received a trophy. The top volunteers were Josie Stephens, Haleigh Batchelor, Brae Hadid and Gabrielle Sowell. All of the members were so excited about how they had helped others and how it had made them feel on the inside. Project H.O.P.E. strives to instill and inspire a love for helping others. There were also special guests in attendance. Mrs. Lisa Bell from the Salvation Army was there to personally thank the members for ringing the bell during the holiday season. She gave out certificates and copies of a very touching poem written by a very young child that benefited from the students' help. Also in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Currin. Mr. Currin has donated his famous 'fishing line Christmas trees' for the last two years to help the H.O.P.E. members raise money to fund various projects. Eagle Ridge students and faculty look forward to spreading even more H.O.P.E.

Eagle Ridge readers top 1 million words each

161868

Two fifth grade students at Eagle Ridge Elementary leave their reading legacies behind. Trinity Mann and Joshua Napier ended the 2013-2014 school year having read more than a million words each. What an accomplishment! Each got to paint a ceiling tile recording their great feats. The tiles are placed on the ceiling of the fifth grade hall and joins the others who have left their legacies behind in the past. Trinity Mann read 1,410,631 words and Joshua Napier read 1,613,219 words! Eagle Ridge is very proud of them, and hopes their accomplishments will inspire others.
