Mrs. Bellflower’s celebrated the 100th day of school. Kynadi Hightower made a sculpture out of 100 mini marshmallows. Eben Mason wrote about what he would do with $100 and Jaylen Glover made a picture with 100 dot stickers. It was a fun day in first grade.
JMA students explore careers during J-Term J-Term (Januar y Term) is a three day period in which students have the opportunity to engage in personal development outside the traditional classroom, from Jan. 8-10. Students are asked to intern a minimum of 18 hours during this time so that they receive varied experiences in the field of their choice. John Milledge has designed JTerm to allow students to experience a profession that might aid in future endeavors, such as career choices and college curriculum choices. Students will not only receive valuable life skills but will also receive school credit while shadowing a professional. This year, students found placements at some of the following: n Piedmont Equine Associates n Twin Lakes Physical Therapy n Lockerly Arboretum n T & S Hardwoods n Animal Hospital of Milledgeville n Gordon Animal Clinic n Kids First Pediatric n Assistant District Attorney Ray Bellury n Georgia Forestr y Commission n duPont/Krieghoff Gun Company n Jack and Darcy Clothing
Company (Fashion) n Cancer Center of Macon n Georgia State Patrol

Blandy author study
GMC Prep SGA, Honor Council join forces in Atlanta The GMC Prep Student Government Association and the Honor Council members joined forces Feb. 26 to travel to Atlanta to visit the King Center and the Carter Center. The students were learning about leadership skills from Georgia’s own Martin Luther King Jr. and former President Jimmy Carter. The leadership model set by both of these men can be used to shape the students’ own leadership skills. Character education is a critical part of education at GMC Prep School.
The students in Mrs. Larson’s and Ms. Bohannon’s second grade class at Blandy Hills have been doing an author study on Laura Numeroff, the author of the ‘If You Give A…’ series. In response to the literature they’ve read, the students wrote what they would want if you gave them a cookie. Pictured are: Wesley Williams, Alan Weston, Makayla Smith, Donasia Cannie, Conner Hardie, RaileyBelle Hodges and Brett Brown.

“kind, funny and motivating.” I always expect my students to do their best on all they do, and I remind them often that they can do more than they think they can.
1. Give us some background on your teaching career. I’ve been teaching for 30 years. I’ve taught Special Education, kindergarten, second grade, and third grade. Much of my career has been in Baldwin County public schools with most of those years being spent at Davis Elementary. It’s really neat that I currently teach the daughter of one of my Davis students!
3. What interests do you have outside of school? I love to spend time with my family, play with my puppies, and as all my students could tell you — READ!
2. What three words do you think students use to describe you? I had some words in mind, and I asked this year’s students to write down words so that I could see if they thought the same way I was thinking. The top words we came up with were
4. If you were a superhero, what would be your superpower? This is a hard decision, but I think I would choose super strength. If I was super strong I would be able to help people with everyday tasks and could also help those who might be in danger.
Recently two GCSU basketball players graciously came to Eagle Ridge to play basketball with the second-graders. Ms. Evans’ and Mrs. Weaver’s classes enjoyed learning different skills such as dribbling, shooting, and passing the ball to others. The students loved having Royal and Terrell to show them how to have fun on our playground and be good sports! Thank you GCSU student athletes!
