GMC students study ‘unknown’ minerals
5
JMA students write on climate and business topic Fourth grade students at John Milledge Academy were given the following question on a recent Social Studies test: “How do climate and resources affect businesses in an area?” Here are some of the incredible answers that were given. “A farmer wouldn’t be as secsesful up north as he would be in the south like with corn because its more cold up north than south.” Cole Hendricks “For example say you sell surfboards in Colorado, your not doing so good. You need to sell the stuff that match your weather so you know people
will buy it.” Julia Clements “The businesses use the climate and resources in a area. One example is you would build a ski resort where there is mountains and snow.” Emery Ryan “It affects what they sell and where they sell. Example: Hawaii would be selling sunscreen and sunglasses in Alaska they would be selling mittens and snow boots.” Sutton Eady “If your in the tip of Florida you wont sell a lot of propane.” Dalton Prestridge
Maj. Jennifer Duckworth’s sixth grade science class recently studied minerals (and not necessarily the ones found in your breakfast cereal!). GCSU MAT Student Steven Hardy works in the lab with a sixth grade class on designing and conducting an investigation to identify an ‘unknown’ mineral.

Midway students study the human body
Mrs. Shelia See’s kindergarten class at Midway Elementary recently studied the human body. Students learned the names of each part and why they are important. They read some funny books about our body. They now know that if they hear someone say that something costs “an arm and a leg,” that it doesn’t really mean they will lose their body parts!
