The Bachelor of Speech Pathology prepares you for entry into professional speech pathology practice. Speech pathologists assess and treat adults and children exhibiting acquired or congenital disorders of speech, fluency, voice, language and swallowing.
The course includes introductory units such as Introduction to the Speech Pathology Profession and Communication Across the Lifespan, as well as science-based units in anatomy, physiology and neurology for speech pathology. Embedded throughout the course are principles of evidence-based practice, cultural competency and multimodal communication.
Career opportunities
Speech pathologists are employed in private practice, education settings, in government agencies or in the health and wellbeing industry. Speech pathologists work independently and also with other health and education specialists in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teams.
