The NHS Pay Review Body (PRB) has recommended a 1% consolidated pay increase for all NHS Staff on Agenda for Change contracts.

The Government has accepted the recommendation and pay for NHS staff will be increased from 1 April 2017. We want to know how you, our members feel about the annual pay increase and where you want us, your branch, to put the most resources.

Over the next few weeks we will be sending out emails to find out if you want us to focus our time and resources into improving member earnings. This could include country-wide work such as pursuing a national approach to reprofiling band 1 jobs into band 2, regional projects to identify and resource high profile rebanding campaigns, as well as training and support for branches to pursue local

campaigns in areas such as: living wage claim; local recruitment and retention premiums; challenging downbanding/ supporting banding reviews; holiday pay and sick pay based on accurate earnings; and improved shift patterns.

Alternatively we can resource a national ballot to challenge the 2017/18 pay award.

Look out for an email with the following statements: Option A I support putting UNISON resources into the Health Service Group earnings maximisation strategy Option B I support putting UNISON resources into running an all-member industrial action ballot on the 2017/18 pay award Let us know your thoughts! The results will be sent to UNISON Health Group on 2 May 2017.

Student Conference 2017 24 January 2017

UNISON North Yorkshire Health Branch were proud to sponsor the first ever 2017 Student Conference held in York.

It was a resounding success, celebrating the achievements of our non-medical healthcare professional students from a range of disciplines.

Supporting the Kinsley Three When Kinsley Primary School became an independent academy last year cleaners Leslie Leake, Marice Hall and Karen McGee saw their wages slashed and terms and conditions undermined by the private firm, C&D that was given the cleaning contract.

After enduring months of strikes the cleaners were sacked by the firm just before Christmas.

UNISON regional organiser Robin Symonds said, “The allegations against the Kinsley Three were trumped up and we will appeal against the dismissals.

“The Kinsley Three stood up for their rights.

C&D are not used to employees standing up to them and their response was to sack them.”

In support of our UNISON colleagues North Yorkshire Health Branch sent a £200 donation to the Kinsley Three fund.
