Overview Our supported learning programmes are ideal for adults and mature school leavers with a learning difficulty or disability. Our passionate and caring supported learning team will help you meet your goals and aspirations so you can shift into further education or paid employment in an area that interests you.

Fees This programme is fees-free to all New Zealand citizens and Permanent Residents under the age of 25. If you are over the age of 25 and are on the Supported Living Allowance, you may be eligible for the Training Incentive Allowance (TIA) through WINZ.

Literacy and learning You could also sign up for this part-time vocational course for supported learners. It will give you the opportunity to transition into tertiary education. It will also help you develop workrelated, independent, co-operative, and communication skills. You will get a certificate as an acknowledgement for completing the course.

New Zealand Certificate in Skills for Living and Working Level 1 75 credits Mt. Albert campus Starts in February Full-time for 2 years You can also apply directly for our 2-year, full-time programme. In this programme, you will be able to use what you have learnt at community events and in real work and life experiences. There will be interactive group sessions focused on things like problem-solving projects, lifestyle planning and goal setting. You will complete reflective logs, online learning, and presentations. Graduates who successfully complete this programme will be able to work in paid supervised employment or move into further study. You may choose to be referred to Poly-Emp who will help you with your career planning, job search, and support.

Year 1 - Skills for Living You will create an initial plan to focus your studies on your hopes, dreams, and aspirations You will make friends, while becoming more independent, and able to maintain your health and wellness You will be able to use problem-solving techniques, as well as numeracy, literacy, and digital skills in your everyday life We will support your transition from school to the next step in your life, which may be work or further study

Year 2 - Skills for Working You will be able to work for one day a week. Staff help you and your whÄ nau find the right work setting for you You will be able to reflect on your work, so you’ll be able to find, secure, and maintain future jobs You will understand the importance of having a good worth-ethic We will support you to make a referral to a supported employment agency e.g. Poly Emp, who will help with your career planning, job search, and support

Admission requirements For this programme, you’ll need to meet the following requirements: Be 18 years of age on the first day of the semester in which you start your studies Provide two forms of ID that confirm you are either a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident Demonstrate a level of English communication that allows you to participate in the programme Provide a CV that demonstrates appropriate work or other life experience Provide two references from employers or professional colleagues Consent to a police vet check for the purpose of work-based learning placements We may invite you and your whÄ nau to an interview. This is so we can ensure you have the abilities required to succeed in the programme.

Complete your application: You‘ll need to create an account with Unitec, entering your personal details and academic history into the system.

Complete your enrolment tasks: When you‘ve finished your application, you’ll be transferred to your Enrolment Portal. You‘ll need to complete the necessary tasks to receive an ‘Offer of Study’ (e.g. upload documents to support your application).

Accept your ‘Offer of Study’: If all goes well, you’ll receive an ‘Offer of Study’ in your Enrolment Portal. You can accept this offer via your Enrolment Portal.

Finish off remaining tasks If your offer is conditional, you may be required to complete additional tasks that are still outstanding. Wrap these up as quickly as possible – we can’t offer you a place in your programme until we have all the facts.
