In the book, JJ provides readers with a shopping list, recipes, detailed instructions for the 10-day cleanse, suggestions for getting the best results, and advice on how to continue to lose weight and maintain good health after the cleanse. “I created the 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse after learning how raw greens can heal the body. I was already an advocate of detoxing, so I knew I needed to rid my body of excess waste and toxins that had accumulated as a result of my bout with mercury poisoning that had left me bedridden for two months,” says author JJ Smith. After developing the 10-day cleanse, JJ created a Facebook group (http://ow.ly/uoKt8) and enlisted 100 family members and friends to join her on her journey back to health. Because the results were so phenomenal, in just a few weeks, over 10,000 people joined the Facebook group and decided to do the cleanse with JJ. In just ten days, folks were losing ten to fifteen pounds, getting energized, continued on page 2

Flute Juice (Galen Abdurrazzaq), a renowned master jazz flutist and educator, will entertain and educate us about the history of jazz. And, we will award our first state-wide diversity champion! This will be a person who has made significant progress in serving an underrepresented population in the state of Missouri. I’m telling you, we’ve packed this year’s conference with all kinds of real excitement, scholarship, edutainment, food and fun! All of this, all day, two days long! If you still want to know more, first… register, the deadline in March 31st. Go to http://diversity.missouristate.edu/conference/ and click the registration button on the left side. Then come expecting to learn essential diversity tips and strategies you can take home and use right away. Take part in diversity networks and a statewide commu-
nity for advancement of diverse populations! Something to note: Investing in the Value of Community is this year’s conference theme. “Community” has fast become the most flexible word in the practice of diversity leadership. Its relevance seems to change with law, policy or catastrophe. Yet, one thing remains constant: community is not where we always choose to be, but where we find ourselves being valued, recognized and equitably rewarded. Being together in Springfield matters because it is the community where our global perspectives come together to make safe our capacity to live, learn and share each other’s worlds without fears of race, faith, ability, national origin or orientation. Investing in the value of community is the pinnacle of public affairs and the ultimate test and proof that one’s commitment to human development is real and uninhibited. The SCDC is a Missouri State University public affairs signature event. Join us…don’t miss the deadline to register. Last year we sold out! Let’s integrate, collaborate and elevate... together!

Health & Mental Fitness Introducing “Your Prostate Health Minute” — A New Campaign to Heighten Fight Against Prostate Cancer Quincy, MA — The Prostate Health Education Network (PHEN) has ramped up its fight against the prostate cancer crisis in Black America with its latest campaign “Your Prostate Health Minute,” a series of monthly one-minute public service announcements highlighting specific prostate health topics. While prostate cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths among all men in the United States, black men die at a rate 150 percent greater than men of all other racial and ethnic groups. This is the largest racial disparity for any type of cancer for men or women. A lack of knowledge about risk level, early detection, proper treatments and managing survivorship is a major contributor to the prostate cancer crisis. The PSAs address these topics and more and urge radio listeners to visit PHEN’s website, www. rapcancer.org, to access online educational resources to gain more knowledge. PHEN has also taken the campaign a step further by integrating it into some of the organization’s ongoing outreach efforts including its e-newsletter, website and monthly webcasts. “We believe our radio outreach combined with PHEN’s online educational resources and other outreach initiatives is a powerful, effective and exciting way to broaden our reach to where it’s needed most and increase the prostate health knowledge in Black America,” said PHEN
founder and president Thomas Farrington. “Knowledge is the best defense against prostate cancer and it saves lives.” Click the links to listen to “Your Prostate Health Minute” PSAs covering prostate cancer risks and the types of prostate cancer. PHEN (Prostate Health Education Network, Inc.) is a non- profit patient education and advocacy organization founded in 2003 by Thomas A. Farrington, a prostate cancer survivor. Through the success of its education,
awareness and advocacy initiatives PHEN is now recognized as the national leader in the “fight against prostate cancer” on behalf of Black America. Some other key PHEN initiatives include an “Annual Father’s Day Rally” in partnership with churches nationwide, an “Annual Summit” in Washington, DC in partnership with the Congressional Black Caucus, a monthly webcast in partnership with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA., and a nationwide prostate cancer survivor network for community outreach. may find it interesting to know that a lot of people find some very powerful statements about religion, government and even sexuality in this more than interesting film. I didn't have any strong opinions or thoughts as to how much I would like the film when I went but I thought the plot and timing of the film worked. The pace of the film is good and it has a certain amount of drama and intensity which makes you care what happens to the heroes and get vested in the film. I personally like movies that make me think and I can come back to in the weeks that follow and get even more insight from. It is a smart film and one that you can discuss over a cup of coffee afterwards

in several different sizes and they are definitely flavorful and you can get plenty of cheese on them. Customers also love the large variety of toppings that you can choose for your burger. I am not too adventurous in this department but if you always wanted to know how something else tasted on your burger this can be your chance. And for peanut lovers.....there is a convenient bucket of peanuts that you can indulge in while you wait for your order. And the choices of toppings are all free. The last time I went I got almost six toppings.....oops....I didn't mean to tell y'all that! I love the fresh cut fries.....they are tight. Fries come in several sizes and what many people like is you get a crazy amount of these fresh cut fries....they are served inside of a paper cup which is set inside of a brown paper bag. The cup is filled to overflowing and fries are literally all over the bag......it becomes downright shameful because if you have an

But future installments will show how the world was attacked so stay tuned. And don't worry The Single Mom's Club is on my schedule ...if you have seen it what did you think? I also am checking out Noah which has lit up the social media world and for some is full of controversy! Movie Score.....90 out of 100 Next Month -Spring Movie Give Away!!!! Stay tuned and Happy Spring! order to go....your hand automatically starts going in the bag while you are driving to sample some of the delicious fries. Many people simply rave over the Cajun fries which is another menu choice.....but I haven't tried them because I don't want something else that I can't do without. The ambiance is typical casual dining with a fast food edge ....a lot or red with the walls adorned with raving reviews from some of the top publications in the country. Service is quick and friendly enough without being over the top. I like the overall menu because it is simple....they have hot dogs ...a veggie sandwich ....grilled cheese and hamburgers and fries. I love it... basic and there is no confusion..... and they do it well. There are two locations in Springfield.....one on the northside on N. Kansas Expwy just before you get to I-44 and the other at the mall So yes, I am giving them a shout out because they invested in the northside!!! When it’s full, you here voices, workers yelling out names, numbers, and orders. Sizziling from the sodas you pour, you hear popping From the fries cooking, shaking when people shake their drinks, crunching when people crunch their ice, and when people are smacking on the delicious food. I wonder why I wonder why the food is good, I wonder how they make it and what’s the ingredients. This place makes my mouth water, i feel like i need it, Like it’s my cure for everything, it makes me happy. Burgers, burgers, burgers.

Love the Lord
by Darrison White Love the Lord with all your heart. Love the Lord and do your part. Love the Lord with all your mind; Love the Lord for his mercy you shall find. Love the Lord for this is right; Love the Lord from day ‘til night. Love the Lord for this you should do, Love the Lord ‘cause He loves you. Love the Lord and have faith in God, Love the Lord ‘cause His path is not broad. Love the Lord for He will give you the good of the land, Love the Lord, for He is the rock on which you stand. Love the Lord and do things His way, Love the Lord for He will bless your day! •••
Where Poems Hide
Makayla McCrimmons, 8th Grade Poems hide in the long conversations I have with my best friend. Poems hide when my sister and I dance like maniacs in the kitchen. Poems hide in my baby cousin while he rests in my arms. Poems hide within the memories I have of me and my dad.
Poetry Hides Everywhere! Daniele Mace, 8th Grade
Poetry hides in the music I sing, In the A on my report card Poetry hides inside my loud sounding Beating heart in my chest, In the sun when night sees day Poetry hides in the smell of the rain, In the guitar I play Poetry hides in that one math Equation you can’t ever figure out Because it’s too cumbersome for you, Poetry hides in the word love, Poetry might hide but can always Be found •••

may find it interesting to know that a lot of people find some very powerful statements about religion, government and even sexuality in this more than interesting film.

The cup is filled to overflowing and fries are literally all over the bag......it becomes downright shameful because if you have an
or pie or a big martini as you debate the question what to do with the divergent? Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Kate Winslet all turn in strong performances. I couldn't tell how diverse the future was..... there was some color but not a lot .... wonder where the folks went since America is supposed to be more diverse than ever in the future. Five Guys left me full and wanting some more.....I hope you get to give it a try if you haven't already!!!! Three and a half forks!!!!

This will be a person who has made significant progress in serving an underrepresented population in the state of Missouri.
Let’s integrate, collaborate and elevate... together!
