George and Nir are a same-sex couple trying to answer a question many of us face. Every consideration – adoption, surrogacy, co-parenting, the environmental impact of childbirth, the fears and anxieties, how the past affects parenting and much, much more – brings with it a succession of ethical challenges. A young woman turns 27, and that brings with it the label of “shengnu,” or “leftover woman.” Her grandmother and her mother help in the search for love - affixing her dating profile onto an umbrella, they join the hundreds of parents at the Marriage Market of Guangzhou. Under the Umbrella explores tradition, trauma and triumph in the art of finding love.

We’ve given emerging artists, theatre-makers and brand new companies the right tools to enable them to launch a career in the arts.
