HEART-BREAKING INCIDENT
His Majesty Sultan and I are saddened over the recent fatal incident that involved the demise of a total of twenty-one students and two teachers at the Tahfiz Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah Centre, purportedly due to a fire caused by arson, a treacherous crime. What is even more worrying is the fact that the perpetrators are minors who are believed to be under the influence of drugs. WWW.UTM.MY
HEART-BREAKING INCIDENT
I thus urge all parties to work together to monitor the movement and activity of our young. The young are inexperienced and easily influenced by immoral social activities. I urge UTM students to become involved in beneficial activities with teenagers, particularly at the secondary level, with the aim of assisting and motiving the teenagers, thereby helping to prevent drug abuse. ROLE IN ADDRESSING SOCIAL PROBLEMS
I would also like to beseech UTM, in its capacity as an international education and research centre, to play a more significant role in helping to address social problems. This may be achieved through community service programs, as well as activities that can benefit local communities. WWW.UTM.MY
APPRECIATE YOUR PARENTS
The respective degree certificates received today are of significance to all graduates. The development, future, and legacy of our beloved country will be influenced and determined by the knowledge and values that you have attained. I therefore urge all graduates to always be grateful and remember the sacrifices made by your parents in ensuring your success.
