First Year Experience
T
he Office of First Year Experience assists freshman and transfer students by providing information about student services, campus life, academic support, academic advising and registration. A variety of programs are offered, including new student orientation, Pegasus Palooza Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Learning and Interacting with New Knights (LINK), the Ultimate Knight and the Strategies for Success course. A combined effort by our LINK and Ultimate Knight programs assists freshman by coordinating campuswide activities. Each year, a group of specially trained student leaders serve on the orientation team. Students are chosen to serve based on academic standing, outstanding leadership, communication and teamwork skills. Students may also elect to participate in a First Year Experience course Student Life Skills (SLS 1501) that deals with issues such as study skills, time management, campus involvement, career planning, diversity and numerous other topics.
