WELCOME TO THE EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME The University of East London’s International Summer School offers students a hands-on learning experience both in and out of the classroom, from laboratory to studio to real-life projects and practical assignments. All field trips and guest speaker sessions will help you ‘learn by doing’, developing the skills and knowledge to boost the career you choose. Our location, with two modern campuses stretching between the Royal Docks to the edge of the Olympic Park in Stratford, offers a unique environment for learning, teaching and applied research. ABOUT THE PROGRAMME The UEL International Summer School programme gives you a fantastic opportunity to experience the excitement of London life, make new friends from all over the world, and stretch your mind by studying one of our stimulating courses. The programmes can be used to build on your knowledge of an existing subject or to study something completely new. Most courses do not require previous knowledge of the subject, so you can study courses out of personal interest or develop academic knowledge of a new subject. Whichever course you choose, you’ll gain a fresh perspective on your studies. Studying abroad will broaden your outlook and bring your learning to life. Engaging. Interactive. Valuable. The UEL International Summer School offers access to valuable knowledge and experience in a wide range of fields. At the end of your course you will receive a certificate of attendance and UK credits transferable to your home university (selected modules only). You will also have access to a powerful network of international students and academics. All classes are small, friendly and interactive - so you’ll gain the maximum benefit from your studies.

Our campuses in Stratford and Docklands are each less than a 30-minute train ride away from the centre of London – or nine minutes if you take the high-speed train from Stratford International. FASHION & TEXTILES Fashion Culture London is a world-renowned culture and fashion leader, and this dynamic and exciting course at the University of East London is the perfect place to hone your knowledge of the industry. The module will give you a fascinating, and unique, insight into the world-famous London fashion scene, while exploring the cultural and retail environments behind what has become known globally as ‘cool Britannia’. Designers work for established brands as well as nurturing an entrepreneurial and innovative design approach in their studios, many situated in the creative side of the city – East London. BUSINESS London Financial Markets London is Europe’s finance and economic capital and at the University of East London you’ll be studying in the heart of it! This course gives you the opportunity to study the economic functions and efficiency of financial institutions and markets in the United Kingdom, with a focus on London. You will gain an in-depth understanding of the key theories and issues in finance and economics as well as being able to develop the analytical skills you need to understand the inner workings of the financial world. Furthermore, you’ll be learning in the perfect location – the University of East London campuses are right on the doorstep of the financial hubs of Canary Wharf and the City of London! This course provides a valuable opportunity to undertake Bloomberg introduction training, which is an extremely important tool in the world of finance. You will also get the chance to go on stimulating visits to key financial institutions such as the London Stock Exchange, Bloomberg, the London Metal Exchange and the Bank of England.

BUSINESS International Business and Communication The course is perfect for aspiring young professionals and business leaders of tomorrow, particularly those who are preparing to enter the world of work in an emerging and developing country. The module is structured around the needs of speaks of English as a second language and will help you develop applied knowledge of English in a practical business setting. You will also study a variety of business topics and apply your knowledge, as well as building your portfolio of contacts, through case study work and interaction with corporate executives in London. The course also includes optional Bloomberg training which can really help you stand out when trying to enter the world of business and finance. This applied, hands-on experience will really improve your chances of finding the right career!

HOW DO I APPLY? Entry Requirements Students must be 18 or over at the start of the programme. Non-native English speakers should meet UEL English language requirements (IELTS 5.0 or equivalent) for all courses.

As a UEL International Summer School student you’ll live and study in either our waterfront Student Village at our Docklands campus or in Stratford, a dynamic and exciting part of the city. Stratford is home to the Olympic Park and the Westfield shopping centre, one of Europe’s largest with hundreds of shops, restaurants and cinemas, so you certainly won’t be bored!
