At the University of East London, we celebrate diversity. Our aim is to create a future in which anyone with the will and potential to succeed, regardless of their background, race or religion can transform their lives by studying with us.

The University’s Office for Institutional Equity (OIE) is the first of its kind in the UK and has specific responsibility for addressing inequalities within the institution. At the University of East London we want to ensure that our community and learning environment are based on mutual respect and equity.

The Black Academy is a group of academic and senior professional staff committed to shaping policy and practice around educational equity, anti-racism, Black representation and inclusivity in higher education. The Black Academy is there to give our Black students an amplified voice, to celebrate Black diversity and to build intellectual, social and cultural capital within the university and wider community. the University of East London is committed to enabling Black students to reach their full academic potential, improve experiences and outcomes and gain graduate level jobs. University of East London was awarded a Bronze Race Equality Charter (REC) Mark which is an award that aims to support and encourage universities to work towards race equality. We hold the

Athena Swan Bronze award for gender equality, are a disability confident employer and we are working closely with Stonewall to ensure inclusivity for our LGBTQ+ staff and students.
