Innovation and entrepreneurship From innovative idea generation though to implementation, The Exeter MBA will help you lead with an entrepreneurial mindset and identify the key strategies for sparking ideas and opportunity exploitation. Apply your ideas to the entrepreneurial process to create a tangible new venture and gain pragmatic insight into the processes required to conceive, research, write and pitch a credible plan in order to acquire the necessary resources to launch a new enterprise. Workshops include significant input from entrepreneurs and small business specialists. Entrepreneurs can shape their innovative ideas into business realities over the course of just three days with Google’s Techstars Startup Weekend Exeter, hosted at the University of Exeter Business School with expert facilitators and mentors.
The Entrepreneurial Mindset module is designed to give you an insight into the realities of entrepreneurial activity, an understanding of processes important in improving the probability of success, and the important factors that make a new venture more likely to succeed. This includes the rapid increase of ‘platforms’ and servitization through digital connectivity. Our ‘Dragons’ Den’ exercise, which forms part of our optional entrepreneurship module in Term 3, allows you to present your business plan to a team of experienced entrepreneurs to gain expert feedback. 12

The Corporate Challenge was an incredible, stimulating project that helped us balance the tension between our academic knowledge and practical skills. There was no blue-sky thinking: The solution had to be sustainable, it had to be smart and practical and above all, it had to be possible to execute. Working with a small brand meant Unilever could give our solution a try, see how it goes and if successful, migrate to other brands. Justin Turquet (2017 MBA alumnus) CEO, BinIt
