A degree in marketing, one of our most popular business majors, will allow you to explore a career in fields such as sales, advertising and promotions, retail, market research, and market analysis in organizations large or small, domestic or global, corporate or nonprofit. A marketing degree includes core business classes in all areas of forprofit and nonprofit companies, taking a deeper dive into your preferred marketing field with more specialized classes. Courses in digital marketing, international marketing, marketing communications, retailing, and services marketing allow you to tailor your degree to your own professional goals and desired career path. Our graduates have gone on to pursue successful careers as media buyers, marketing managers, public relations specialists, brand managers, and other positions that require the creativity and exceptional communication skills that a Barney degree provides.

Preparing my students for their professional future is at the heart of my teaching. As a result of this, I seek to design my course curriculum to include discussions of relevant industry practices and hands-on projects in each class.

Christine Ye is an associate professor of marketing at the University of Hartford. She holds a PhD in marketing from Florida State University, a master’s degree in statistics from Yale University, and a bachelor’s degree in marketing (minor in math) from Indiana University. Her research focuses on understanding the role of trust in a relationship between a business and a customer, particularly in the domain of e-commerce and corporate social responsibility. Her articles appear in well-regarded marketing journals including the Journal of Interactive Marketing, Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Marketing Education, and Psychology & Marketing.
