Economics is an interesting and important subject that helps you understand how the world works. This course aims to give you a comprehensive understanding of the subject, with a particular focus on applications to the business environment.

The course focuses on key areas such as macroeconomics, microeconomics, international economics, and business. You’ll have the opportunity to study important issues such as unemployment, inflation, and economic growth, and to use economic models to analyse how households, businesses and governments behave and assess the implications of their decisions. During the course, you’ll be able to choose option modules to explore what excites you about the business world. The modules could help you decide which areas to specialise in and what career choices to make.

You’ll explore how mathematical and statistical tools can be used to analyse economic and business decisions. You’ll be able to explore large datasets that will enable you to make optimal decisions based on highly advanced data analysis, a skill highly desired by modern businesses. You’ll also have the opportunity to use the University’s trading room which enables you to use advanced technology to analyse economic, business and financial data in real time. You should come away from the course being able to understand and respond to situations in the business world, using skills that you have established during your study of economics.
