Gain a qualification in IT and you could work with computer-based technology, integrating communications with computer networks to benefit organisations in the public or private sector.

This course aims to give you the knowledge and skills to help organisations identify their IT needs and then design, produce and operate computerbased information systems. During your studies we’ll give you the opportunity to gain a thorough grounding in the principles of IT. You’ll also study advanced skills in developing database-enabled applications.

Our focus is on giving you the skills to perform in a graduate level information systems position, and prepare you for a career in this dynamic area of computing. We want to give you lots of opportunities to put what you’ve learnt into practice, and we work closely with industry. You could also spend a year on placement, which could really help you develop your experience and your contacts.

Top-up Option

If you have studied Information Technology for at least two years at university or higher education level, this course helps you build on your knowledge and skills to gain a degree.

This one-year top-up course aims to give you the knowledge and skills you need to help organisations specify, design, implement, operate and exploit information systems.

On the course we’ll give you the chance to work with software tools to develop information systems for people. It could help you develop your creativity and imagination as well as your technical competence.

1 year full-time

Entry requirements:

HND or FdSc in Computing/DipHE in a related subject/non-Honours degree in a related subject

Accreditation

Information Technology BSc(Hons) is accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS), the Chartered Institute for the IT industry. It is also accredited for Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status, BCS’s own Chartered qualification. This course is accredited to also partially meet the requirements for CEng status. This accreditation is reviewed on a regular basis.
