EnABLE and SAIL
EnABLE (Engineering in an Activity Based Learning Environment)
EnABLE is our initiative that provides you with an opportunity to work within professional teams of peers in a guided way under academic supervision to solve real engineering challenges. We link the theory with engineering practice, whilst developing the transferrable skills valued by industry employers, for example, team player and leader, critical thinker and researcher, competent designer, or excellent communicator of new ideas. In the first two years of your course you will be exposed to eight competitive engineering challenges, each lasting around five weeks. These challenges are the stepping stones to improving your personal and professional development and allowing you to build both the confidence and the required competences to take with you into the world of work.

SAIL (Score As I Learn)
SAIL is our approach to continual assessment. Learning material in your modules is divided into weekly sections on Brightspace (our Virtual Learning Environment). For each section there is an associated SAIL assessment which is available to work on throughout the week and is most often in a quiz format on Brightspace. The SAIL questions are structured in conjunction with the learning material and you will get immediate feedback after submission at the end of the week. These assessments will help guide your studies from week to week and will form approximately a quarter of your module marks. Our students have found this continual feedback useful as they know where they are with their learning and understanding and the feedback is quick, relating to what they have learnt that week.
