Your course These undergraduate Masters’ courses offer you the opportunity to gain a thorough grounding in the principles and practice of forensic science whilst developing an in-depth knowledge of analytical science.

Where the courses differ from each other is that in the third year of the MSci you’ll do a research placement in a university or research setting and with the MSci with Industrial Experience you’ll do a placement in an industry setting. This placement year could be the perfect opportunity for you to put the theory you’ve learned to the test and help boost your career prospects.

No matter what career path you’ve set your sights on, these courses are designed to help you develop the practical and problem-solving skills you need. In our specialised labs and crime-scene facilities, you’ll be able to get to grips with the tools and processes used in real-life investigations and our simulated scenarios will challenge you to apply your know-how on the spot.

Your future As a graduate of this course, you may consider a career in crime scene investigation, forensic pathology, toxicology, clothing damage analysis, bloodstain pattern analysis, forensic technology or forensic anthropology or forensic podiatry, as well as roles in chemistry and analytical chemistry within sectors such as pharmaceuticals, food and drink manufacturers or health.

Previous graduates from courses in this subject area of Forensic Science have gone on to work in roles such as Scientific Officer at Citrefine International Ltd, Quality Control Analyst at Dechra Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing and Analyst at Covance Laboratories Inc.***

A Levels/BTEC/UCAS points BBB* inc. Chemistry/DDM in Applied Science**/120 inc. B in Chemistry at A Level.

*The endorsement for practical work is an essential part of Science A Level study, and is a requirement for entry to our degree course. **Alternatively a BTEC Health and Social Care/Medicinal Science is acceptable but must be accompanied by an A Level in Chemistry at a minimum grade B.
