Your course On the Forensic and Analytical Science BSc(Hons), you’ll benefit from career-focused teaching and a course that combines forensic science with the complementary area of analytical science. You’ll be supported by academic staff, who are experienced practitioners in forensic science, to focus on the theory and gain the practical skills that could set you up for a wide choice of careers across a range of industries.
There’s a wide spectrum of topics taught through lectures, tutorials, lab classes and purpose-built crime-scene facilities. You’ll also be supported in gaining experience of how things work in the real world of the profession through mock criminal court hearings and organised outdoor crime scenes.
You can also extend your hands-on understanding by opting to complete a placement in Year 3 to equip yourself with the knowledge and skills required to help boost your employment prospects in one of the largest area of employment for graduates with chemical science-related degrees.

Your future
As a graduate of this course, you may consider a career in crime scene investigation, forensic pathology, toxicology, clothing damage analysis, bloodstain pattern analysis, forensic technology or forensic anthropology or forensic podiatry, as well as roles in chemistry and analytical chemistry within sectors such as pharmaceuticals, food and drink manufacturers or health.
Previous graduates from courses in this subject area of Forensic Science have gone on to work in roles such as Scientific Officer at Citrefine International Ltd, Quality Control Analyst at Dechra Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing and Analyst at Covance Laboratories Inc.***

BBC* inc. C in Chemistry/DMM in Applied Science**/112 inc. C in Chemistry at A Level.
*The endorsement for practical work is an essential part of Science A Level study, and is a requirement for entry to our degree course. **Alternatively a BTEC Health and Social Care/Medicinal Science is acceptable but must be accompanied by an A Level in Chemistry at a minimum grade C.
