1863................Founding of the Teacher Training College (Seminary) in Jyväskylä 1934................The Teacher Training College becomes the Jyväskylä College of Education 1944................Both Master’s and Doctor’s degrees are offered 1958................The Faculty of Philosophy and several new professorships in the humanities are founded 1963................Teaching of Sport and Health Sciences begins in the Faculty of Philosophy 1965................The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences is founded 1966................The College of Education receives university status. University of Jyväskylä is an active participant in international projects and programmes, such as Erasmus, Erasmus Mundus, Comenius, External Cooperation Window and Nordplus.
