It might sound crazy, but the best experiences I have had here on a daily basis are the never ending opportunities to learn from my failure. Basically, I am encouraged to fail in order to increase my probability of succeeding in the future. At JYU I value the most the constructive criticism I receive, which helps me grow my scientific skills.

The Erasmus exchange year I spent in Jyväskylä led me to choose JYU for my master’s degree studies as well. I liked the way of teaching and the fact that I had the freedom to choose extra courses that interested me in addition to the mandatory courses. I recommend JYU to everyone who is eager to meet and work with people from different countries, as well as to everyone who wants to attend a high quality university, and experience a very special student life in a student city.

PhD OPPorTunITIes aT THe UnIVerSITY OF JYVãSKYLã The University of Jyväskylä Graduate School for Doctoral Studies educates professionals in research, helping them become competent and versatile experts in various fields for the needs of society. Approximately 160 doctors graduate yearly from the University’s seven faculties.
Our high quality research clusters enable long-term research and offer optimal, versatile environments for doctoral training. Examples of these kinds of clusters are the Centres of Excellence financed by the Academy of Finland, the Accelerator Laboratory, the Nanoscience Center, the Finnish Institute for Educational Research (FIER), the Centre for Applied Language Studies (CALS), the Family Research Centre, and the Jyväskylä Centre for Interdisciplinary Brain Research.
