Dream B O L D L Y

A UK degree is much more than a piece of paper; it reflects an educational experience that has prepared you to do anything, go anywhere, and make the world a better place.

“The mentorship and guidance of the many incredible faculty, staff, and students I had the honor of meeting and working with completed my experience at UK. Their stories, interests, and leadership abilities expanded my horizons and made it possible to accomplish my wildest dreams.” – Hadeel Abdallah, ’19, College of Arts and Sciences; 2019 Rhodes Scholar, 2018 Truman Scholar, Founded the Bilal ibn Rabah Scholarship at UK

“I chose the University of Kentucky because of the opportunities that it presented. You owe it to yourself when you’ve been offered the opportunity to take advantage of it. Just don’t wait 50 years like I did.” – Wilbur Hackett Jr., ’20, College of Arts and Sciences; UK Football player 1967-70 who integrated Southeastern Conference football; All SEC in 1968 and the first Black team captain in any sport in the SEC.

“You have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. I transferred to UK. The journalism program not only taught me the fundamentals of journalism but allowed me to form my own lane. Kentucky is my second home and that community, comradery, that sense of belonging – you’ll always belong at UK.” – Erin Ashley Simon, ’14, College of Communication and Information; Esports journalist, host and personality

“Get involved in something! I’m so fortunate that at UK I was surrounded by a diverse group of people who thought differently than me.” – Jake Ingram, ’15, College of Engineering; Space X engineer

WELCOME TO

YOUR NEW EVERYTHING When you walk in your residence hall and first meet your roommate or connect with your study group at the Gatton Student Center, you’ll probably notice one similarity - they’re new. The spaces where the UK community hangs out, lives and studies on campus are some of the newest facilities in the country and are full of all the amenities including tons of spaces to charge all your devices and great snack and dining options. The newest residence halls in the Southeastern Conference - yeah, we have those, too.

Here, you’ll find everything you’re looking for (to eat). You’ll come here to learn. But you’ll stay here to learn a thousand different ways to have tacos (or stir-fry or pizza or whatever else it is you eat). In UK Dining locations, the main thing you’ll find is options: local and farm-to-table, fast and convenient, clean and healthy, and personal and specialized. With 30 different locations, there’s always some place close.

WWW.VISITLEX.COM We can’t wait to welcome you to our hometown because #UKLovesLex. Lexington is a vibrant, friendly community of a little more than 330,000. Our hometown has a close connection with the University and a culture that students describe as close-knit, eclectic, opportunity-rich, and supportive of all things local. Lexington is within a day’s drive of two-thirds of the U.S. population. You get the best of both worlds here - city bustle adjacent to campus, nestled in the midst of beautiful rolling hills and immaculate horse farms a short drive out of town.

“I knew that I wanted to become a nurse because I love helping people. I love knowing that I’ll be able to make a difference. People can show kindness in so many ways, both words and gestures. Here at UK, I’ve learned how to do that.” – Serxhane Ajeti, ’19, College of Nursing

LET’S GO

UK is Test Optional for Fall 2021

Complete our combined application for undergraduate admission, academic scholarships, competitive scholarships, and the Lewis Honors College. Applications are available online at applyuk.com. UK also accepts the Common Application and the myCoalition Application. The myCoalition app is a free online resource that streamlines the application process for many public and private institutions.

The University of Kentucky is implementing a test optional policy for the 2021-22 academic year. This will allow most freshman applicants the option to be considered for admission without submission of ACT or SAT scores. We recognize the challenges that prospective students are experiencing because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in registering for and taking these standardized tests.

Completed applications must include: • ACT/SAT score(s) – ACT code: 1554 | SAT code: 1837 (optional) • High school transcript • Application processing fee ($50 domestic; $60 international) Check your application status at go.uky.edu/status

To that end the Office of Undergraduate Admission is able to evaluate most applicants for admission without the use of test scores – reviewing the rigor of high school coursework, activities and engagement outside the classroom as well as a written essay. Learn more about our test optional policy at go.uky.edu/testoptional.
