UNT’s transfer admission requirements are straightforward. YOU ARE ADMISSIBLE IF YOU MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN 44 COLLEGE CREDIT HOURS

Minimum college GPA of 2.0* and eligible to return to institution(s) attended IF YOU HAVE 30-44 COLLEGE CREDIT HOURS

Minimum college GPA of 2.25* and eligible to return to institution(s) attended

IF YOU HAVE 15-29 COLLEGE CREDIT HOURS

How to Apply When to Apply

Submit your application for admission at applytexas.org or commonapp.org.

Pay the $75 application fee. In limited cases the fee may be waived. Visit admissions.unt. edu/transfer for more info.

Submit separate official transcripts from every university or college you’ve attended. If you've earned fewer than 15 college credit hours, submit an official high school transcript.

Scholarships

Transfer Excellence Scholarships are available to high-achieving undergraduate students transferring to UNT for the first time from a community college or accredited university. These two-year awards, ranging from $1,500 to $4,000 annually, are based on transfer GPA.

As a special incentive, Associate of Arts or Science degree holders from Collin College, Dallas College, North Central Texas College or Tarrant County College with a 3.0 GPA or higher receive a one-time $500 bonus in addition to their scholarship.

As one of the largest providers of online credit courses among Texas public universities, we offer more than 90 online program options with eight fully online bachelor’s degrees and 31 online certificate/certification options.

For those who don’t want to miss out on the in-person university experience, our hybrid programs can be completed through a combination of online and face-to-face courses at our Denton or Frisco campuses. We even offer accelerated options to fast-track your career.

UNT’s Multidisciplinary Studies program contains majors that allow you to design your degree based on your interests and career goals. These majors emphasize critical thinking, problem-solving and interdisciplinary approaches to learning. Multidisciplinary Studies programs are often flexible and are offered in a variety of formats, dates and times, making them especially appealing to nontraditional university students.

Ranked 5th in the nation among public universities by Animation Career Review, our Communication Design program will help you polish your portfolio and excel in creative fields as a user experience or graphic designer

EVENT DESIGN AND EXPERIENCE MANAGEMENT

The only bachelor’s degree of its kind in Texas, this program will prepare you for a fast-paced and creative career as an event planner, charity fundraiser, activities coordinator, public relations officer or marketing executive.

HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT

Is customer service your passion? This hands-on program emphasizes the real-world industry techniques and practical skills you’ll need to successfully own, operate or manage a hospitality or tourism business.

Off-Campus Student Services helps commuter, online and non-traditional students find housing, transportation and career services.

Transfer Ambassadors are student leaders who also have transferred to UNT and provide face-to-face or online mentoring.

The First-Generation Success Center supports 41.5% of UNT’s undergraduate population with specialized resources and workshops.

Our Mean Green Gowns for Grads program provides free rentals of graduation regalia to students in need.

UNT is one of the newest members of the American Athletic Conference. In 2024, the UNT Women’s Basketball team claimed their first conference title since 1986, setting a new program record for wins!

Our newest dining experience, Eagle Landing, includes seven independent restaurant concepts under one roof featuring made-from-scratch food crafted by UNT’s culinary team.
