Blythe Spendlove ’18 “ I chose Redlands because I felt like it would give me the best education. I wanted to be challenged and really dive into the science of GIS, not just learn the software. I haven’t been disappointed. The program has a great mix of full-time faculty, as well an amazing group of adjunct faculty who work at Esri during the day. With that mix, we get the unique opportunity to learn the underlying science of GIS at a deep level, as well as to learn the latest technology trends from people who are developing GIS software on a daily basis.”

Blyth Spendlove ‘18 works as a Business Systems Analyst in the eGIS Applications Support Department for SoCalGas.

Why the University of Redlands? The University of Redlands is a national leader in GIS programs. Consistently ranked among the nation’s best small universities by U.S. News & World Report, the University of Redlands provides a world-class educational environment. Our MS GIS and MGIS programs are among the best in the world. Our students—professionals from a variety of fields and cultural backgrounds— are from across the U.S. and throughout the world. Many of our students become interested in our programs because they are currently employed in fields using geographic information and desire deeper knowledge of GIS technology, university graduates seeking to launch a career in a GIS-related field, or professionals building a foundation for career advancement through a solid knowledge of GIS science and practice.

Neel Chowdhury ’15 “I came from a different country, yet because of the MS GIS program I got counseled by and connected with so many people. Then, I landed a great job. I don’t think many schools can offer that kind of opportunity.”

We provide an open learning environment, where international faculty and students learn together about the cutting-edge of GIS technology, theory, and applications.
