WORKING WITH
STUDENTS
THE UNIVERSITY OF SALFORD is proud of its close links with business. We have a long history of engaging with companies to provide work placements, internships, live briefs and team projects for students. These span across our entire range of courses and from undergraduate to postgraduate. We work with companies of all sizes from large multinationals to micro organisations, finding real projects and positions so that our students can make a difference to the company while at the same time enhancing their own employability.
This means two things: / Our students get the opportunity for real world work experience as part of their study so that they are workready when they graduate. / Local businesses can access a high quality of bright enthusiastic students who will bring up-to-the-minute thinking on all your business needs.
SALFORD BUSINESS SCHOOL EMPLOYABILITY HUB The Employability Hub manages the process of bringing together students looking for a placement and employers looking for students to undertake a specific project. We develop connections with students and relationships with SMEs so we can find the best internships, placements and live projects for undergraduate and postgraduate students at Salford. The Employability Hub also ensures that each student is allocated an academic supervisor who will visit your organisation on at least one occasion. During the visit the academic supervisor will typically talk separately with both the student and the supervisor assigned by your organisation. The purpose of these visits is to maintain contact with all parties, to satisfy the academic supervisor that the work being undertaken is appropriate and that the student is making an effective contribution to the organisation.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING THE EMPLOYABILITY HUB? / Y ou will have the opportunity to have one-to-one meetings with employability officers who can advise your organisation and develop the appropriate project brief / Y ou will build relationships with students and academics to share good practice / You can utilise the skills of the hub to identify future workforce planning requirements
