ART AND DESIGN / DANCE / ENGLISH JOURNALISM / MEDIA / MUSIC / PERFORMANCE POLITICS AND CONTEMPORARY HISTORY

The School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology is one of the largest institutions for arts and media education in the UK, with strong links to the creative industries. Throughout your course, we will help you to develop the personal and professional skills that employers value.

LINKS WITH CREATIVE INDUSTRIES

You will have the opportunity to showcase your work to industry employers at professional events and venues such as The Lowry theatre, London’s Graduate Fashion Week, and our own end of year Degree Show.

WORK ALONGSIDE THE PROFESSIONALS

If you choose to study broadcast media, film, animation or journalism, you will work alongside word-class broadcasters such as the BBC and ITV at our MediaCityUK campus. You will have access to our industry standard equipment, including TV and radio studios, virtual 3D sets and green screen systems.

INDUSTRY STANDARD FACILITIES

If you take one of our courses in art, design, music and performance, you will be studying in the £55 million New Adelphi building. You can let your creativity run free across specialist facilities, including our 350 capacity theatre, six recording studios, woodwork, metal and plastics workshops, dance rehearsal spaces and live band room. REAL-LIFE EXPERIENCE

Our courses will give you hands-on experience in the industry. Past students have had placements at fashion design houses such as Vera Wang and Burberry, as well as publishing houses and the BBC. Previously, our Politics students have undertaken placements in Parliament or with local constituency MPs, where they can work alongside some of the most influential policymakers in the country, and we actively encourage students to develop their own placement opportunities.

INTERNATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

You may have the option to study abroad through our partnerships with institutions across the globe, including Luxun Academy of Fine Arts and Zhejiang Fashion Institute of Technology in China, and Columbia College Chicago and Middle Tennessee State University in the USA.

Various international placements, short-courses and international opportunities on campus and online are also on offer. All international opportunities are subject to approval and Covid-19 developments. Find out more at www.salford.ac.uk/io

CAREERS

Previous graduates of the school have gone on to work for organisations including the BBC, Fujitsu, Global Entertainment, Nine Lives Media and Trinity Mirror. Other career paths include education, advertising and marketing, design, as well as digital and media services.
