EXTRAORDINARY GLOBAL BUSINESS EXPERIENCES All graduate programs in the University of San Diego School of Business are focused on developing globally minded, responsible business leaders dedicated to contributing to the greater good. The School of Business was one of the original signers of the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), convened by the United Nations Global Compact and business school accrediting organizations to embed issues of social responsibility and sustainability in the mainstream of business education. More than half of our students experience worldwide business first hand through exploring the Ahlers Center for International Business’ innovative study abroad programs. SHORT-TERM GRADUATE STUDY ABROAD Spend up to two weeks in diverse geographic locations such as Europe, Latin American, Asia, Middle East and Africa. (Locations vary annually.)

MASTER’S IN ACCOUNTING/ MASTER’S IN TAXATION Our Master’s in Accounting and Master’s in Taxation develop skills needed in mid- to upper-level accounting positions where finance, information systems and related financial skills are essential. ANDRE THERRIEN ’07 BA, ’16 MSF • Originally from Toronto, he earned his undergraduate degree in economics from the University of San Diego • After graduation, he was hired as an economics analyst with The Conference Board in Manhattan • Moved to JPMorgan Securities in 2011 to work in the Global Index Research Group, part of Fixed Income Research and Management • In 2013, he moved to Merrill Lynch as a financial advisor in global wealth and investment management

MASTER’S IN FINANCE Our highly selective 10-month MSF program develops superbly trained finance professionals through rigorous and relevant coursework, with the body of knowledge grounded in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) curriculum and offered in a personalized educational environment for which USD is well known. Through our MSF program, students develop a detailed understanding of the core financial knowledge in a global marketplace, while acquiring competencies for the increasingly technical demands of financial decision-making.

SONIA FARACE ’13 MSEL • Earned a bachelor’s in industrial chemical engineering from Veracruz Institute of Technology • Leveraged her undergraduate degree to become a junior manufacturing engineer at a factory in Tijuana • Moved to the United States and landed a dream job with SONY as a process engineer • Worked at SONY for 14 years in manufacturing, service, new product development, marketing, repair operations and more • Started the Master’s in Executive Leadership Program after analyzing her career and realizing she wanted to strengthen aspects of her skills where she felt lacking • After graduation, she was hired by FedEx SupplyChain where she relies on all her acquired business acumen from leadership to operations

MASTER’S IN EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP With USD’s Master of Science in Executive Leadership (MSEL) program, you will discover the enormous power you have to create change and make a difference in the lives and world around you. Designed for leaders and emerging leaders and co-taught by professors and active business executives, the 22-month MSEL program develops leadership skills and business knowledge that you can immediately apply in your day-to-day life.

SHERMAN GILLUMS ’09 MSGL • Earned two commendation medals, one achievement medal and the global war on terror service medal while serving in the Marine Corps • After a serious car accident left him confined to a wheelchair, he worked as a national service office for Paralyzed Veterans of America • He has appeared on CNN, Fox & Friends and C-SPAN, and has written opinion pieces for the Buffalo News and New York Times • While working as president of the CalDiego Chapter of Paralyzed Veterans of America, he enrolled in the Master’s of Global Leadership program to build on the skills he’d learned in the Marine Corps • Recipient of the Don Weber Wounded Warriors Employment Award • Appointed the executive director of Paralyzed Veterans of America in 2016

SEAN MURPHY ’14 MSRE • Earned his undergraduate degree in human resources at Rutgers University • Sworn in as a police officer in Phoenix, Arizona prior to enrolling in graduate school • Attracted to the ‘lions of industry’ teaching in the MSRE program • Promoted after one year at ConAm, which has a multifamily portfolio exceeding 52,000 units nationally • Is responsible for sourcing deals and underwriting potential investments in addition to conducting due diligence • In two years at ConAm, his team has acquired more than $345 million in multifamily assets • Hopes to take $100 million in acquisitions “full cycle” identifying the investment, negotiating the purchase agreement and leading diligence efforts

JESSE SIMONEAU ’16 MSSCM • Earned his undergraduate degree in international relations and affairs at Northeastern University • Has served in the United States Marine Corps since 1996, where he has commanded a truck platoon and supported recruiting operations up and down the west coast • Has been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and assisted with humanitarian relief in Haiti • Certified as a green belt in Lean Six Sigma • While in the MSSCM program, he worked on a logistics project for Monterrey Provision Company • Promoted to Director of Logistics of the 12th Maine Corps District in 2013 where he manages more than 280 recruiting facilities and more than 635 leased vehicles across eight states

MASTER’S IN SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT The web-based Master of Science in Supply Chain Management (MSSCM) is designed for high-performing professionals who have an established track record of success in one or more of the functions included in supply chain management. In two years, participants gain advanced expertise needed to progress companies to world-class supply chain management status.

THE INSTITUTE OF SUPPLY MANAGEMENT (ISM) APPROVED MSSCM PROGRAM OFFERS: • A highly-ranked learning environment. The MS in Supply Chain Management is consistently ranked in the top 10 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. • An applied integrative project enabling you to identify an issue within your own company and discover ways to save your company $50,000 or more. • A personalized hybrid learning experience. MASTER’S OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA) Our Full-Time and Professional MBA are focused on developing globally minded, responsible business leaders dedicated to contributing to the greater good. More than half of our students experience worldwide business first hand through exploring the Ahlers Center for International Business’ innovative study abroad programs. Our strong community is enhanced through ‘real world’ skills integrated into the core curriculum, elective coursework and extracurricular activities, including consulting projects with local, national and international businesses, company site visits and guest lecturers from industry and competitions focused on social innovation and entrepreneurship.

THE MBA OFFERS: • Application of business learning. Students engage in company-based work and consulting projects with diverse organizations all around the world. Examples include marketing projects for Nixon watches and Leo Diamonds, financial forecasting for Brandeis Investment Partners and identification of new data services revenue for Qualcomm in Dubai • An emphasis on responsible business leadership: We make it our business to work toward the common good—it is our social responsibility to find innovative business solutions to today’s most pressing challenges. • Development of compassionate leaders who give time and efforts toward improving the quality of life for the community through service projects by applying

business knowledge. For example, a student team recently created a budget and developed an inventory system for Cardborigami, a nonprofit organization that hires at-risk youth to create portable homeless shelters. • Coursework includes a focus on corporate social responsibility, which aims to train socially responsible leaders to operate in a global marketplace. Examples include Strategic Thinking and Communications, Ethical Leadership and Organizational Behavior, The Legal and Social Environment of Global Business, Leading Multicultural Teams and Organizations, Microfinance and Wealth Creation and Sustainable Global Supply Chain Management, among others.

CAREER COACHING

The Graduate Business Career Services team prepares students for a competitive job market through individualized career coaching, education, and mentoring. Students receive one-on-one attention as they develop a career action plan and begin to explore opportunities. With strong employer partnerships and dedicated alumni, Career Services then connects students to industry contacts and opportunities in their chosen field. Career Services works closely with the business community to facilitate efficient referrals and streamline the hiring process.

Students receive one-on-one coaching and career services to address their individual situations. Graduate Business Career Services professionals assist each student in creating employer-ready resumes, refining interviewing skills, and developing job search strategies. Individualized career action plans lead students from career exploration through an internship and into full-time opportunities.


PROFESSIONAL MENTOR PROGRAM Career Services works with students to connect with professionals in the business community to gain industry insights and build their networks. Participating students meet one-on-one with alumni and business professionals for individual advising and relationship building opportunities.

CAREER AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT A formal course as well as supplemental workshops and programming guide students through graduatelevel career development topics. Working directly with career services staff as well as alumni and industry professionals, students develop a strategic and tactical framework allowing them to master the skills and knowledge necessary for success in securing an internship or full-time job, as well as professional advancement throughout their future careers.

NETWORKING EVENTS, CAREER FAIRS AND COMPANY SITE VISITS Each semester, Career Services organizes and hosts industry expert panels, guest speakers, roundtable discussions, networking events, career fairs and company site visits that allow students to develop professional skills, gain industry insights, and create lasting connections. In addition to on-campus career fairs, including specialized events for supply chain management and real estate, students also receive support to attend graduate-level career fairs and visit corporate offices across the United States, further developing their exposure to employers from a wide variety of industries.
